Pasi, where are you? What is the update on your case? Did you at least get an AOR from Buffalo?

The most useful indicator for us "Buffalo applicants" is the time taken to start processing an application from the date of receipt in Buffalo which is typically 12 months from the date of receipt for almost all applicants.

His case is an additional Buffalo case proves that they take one year at this visa office to start processing the application.

After they start the processing, there will be no standard indicator for us to use it as a measure because once an application is in process, the time taken to finalize it will differ from applicant to the other because in this point, it depends on the case itself how complicated it is (background, security, lack of documents, IELTS......and so on). Therefore some people might get their visas within 2 or 3 months after the processing starts, and others might wait longer and longer...

Hi Professional1, so let me get this straight. Buffalo will take around 1 year from the 2nd AOR just for begin processing the case???? So I guess that all documents will be expired til then. So, Is it likely that Buffalo might ask for the IELTS, PCCs and everything again?

Forget it Pasi. I missed a few posts ( I don't know why). Checked just now to see that you got your AOR on 25th Feb. Congrats!!! So, you can send your India PCC now.

Your Documents are "locked-in" Since the date of receipt of your application at the CIO department, so do not worry, you will not be asked to submit new police clearance or IELTS test results if they were valid at the application date of receipt at the CIO.

MarkCan, Any idea that what basis is being used to transfer the cases? Is it based on if you are located in a city which is in the satellite consulate location OR some other criteria OR just plain random?

My understanding is that this process of sending applications to different visa offices in the U.S. is random. Imagine Buffalo immigration officers spending time sorting out applicants based on their location in the States. Nah, that ain't likely a possibility.

Guys, I have an update. Today I received the AOR mail from Buffalo with the new file number.

Pasi, in your profile, it says that local visa office got your docs on 2-25? Mine was submitted on 1-18. I still don't have my AOR. Hopefully yours is a sign that Buffalo is moving faster now. I hope to see mine soon.

Any progress for cases filed in Jan /Feb 2009 to CIC Buffalo ?

The progress I am seeing in most cases in 2009 are those who have employment in Canada or are nominated by the provinces. However, if you have received the AOR from Buffalo by early 2009, you should see some movement in your case soon. I believe once movement starts, it is only a matter of a few months before the case will be decided. Unless of course, the applicant has a complicated case.

anjay, I guess, Pasi's documents were received by Buffalo CIC on 11th Jan 2010 and he got AOR on 25th Feb 2010. Going by that statistic, you should get your AOR next week. Do keep us posted, as mine was received by Buffalo on 10th Feb, so I am around 3 weeks away from you

Sorry for responding to this post late

BUT

My FBI PCC was over a year old when they started processing my case and they told me to submit a new FBI letter. So I'm not sure how they look at time sensitive documents during the processing.
