Hi Folks,
I am a newbie to this forum. I just love all the post and the great info it provide on Buffalo office.

I just got the initial approval from CIO on Jan-22-2010.

My question is when does the 120 day deadline for submission of "ALL THE DOCUMENTS" to Buffalo begin? Because, the letter from CIO states that if you are not prepared to submit all the documents within 120 days, do not apply now.

I would greatly appreciate your inputs.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, jang.

What that letter means is you expressed your desire to immigrate to Canada. And they found you fit based on what you have stated.
Now you are requested to send the real doc and they will re-evaluate to see if you indeed meet the requirements. And then they are giving you 120 days to send the documents. Thats it.

If you think you cann't gather these doc within 120 days then they are sorry.

Thats all about it.

Once again welcome and have tons of patience.

Hi Professional1 and LondonOntario, I am in the same boat as LondonOntario (FSW2 arranged employment with work permit) but mine's dues on Jan 2011. A question for professional1, what did you mean with "...and it has nothing to do with your PR application at Buffalo"?. I am almost sure that I will have to renew my work permit before it dues as CIC web page states that FSW2 applicants must have their valid work permit at all times in the PR process (before and after visa stamping).

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks and the best wishes for everyone here...

Hi ELAR,

I meant by "it has nothing to do with your PR application at Buffalo" the following:

If anyone wants to extend his temporary residence status in canada based on the fact that he has a permanent residence application in process in Buffalo, his application for the extension will be refused and he will be asked to leave canada because having a PR application processed at Buffalo visa office is not considered a valid reason for a temporary resident to extend his status in canada waiting for a decision.

For example: if you are a temporary foreign worker and your work permit is going to expire before you receive your permanent residence status "conformation", you will have to still meet the requirements for the temporary resident as a foreign worker, positive LMO.....and so on to extend your stay in canada.

If you are an international student, you will have to do the same to renew your study permit by satisfying the requirments on that regard.

Because some people think that they become under an implied status in canada if they have a permanent residence application in process in Buffalo and they can stay in canada until they receive a decision from Buffalo about their PR applications, that is not true.

Good luck.

Hi jang,

The 120 days begins from the date of issuance of your CIO letter which is written under your full name and address at the top of the left side of the CIO letter.

Good luck.

I get it now, If I renew it I surely would have to prove my reasons as extended job offer or something like it. Thanks for the clarification.
Do you guys know what are the estimated processing times from Buffalo? I tried to get something in trackitt.com but it is really confusing. It is rarely to see any updates from Buffalo applicants.

Unfortunatly, Buffalo is too slow comparing to other visa offices like New Delhi and Singapore. Look at all Buffalo applicants in this forum and trackitt, most of late 2008 applicants are still waiting in Buffalo.

12 months is the period of time that Buffalo applicants can expect to see any progress in their applications from the date of receipt at Buffalo not the CIO.

We will have to wait for those 2008 applicants to get their applications processed and then our applications, so we might reach the year of 2011 to get our applications processed.

Hi friends, I am also joining your long journey here. My full app has been received by Buffalo office on Jan 11, 2010. Yet to get AOR from them.

Hi Pasi,

Have you got your AOR from Buffalo ? if not i think you should be receiving it this week.

Good luck.

Hi guys,
I got email from buffalo showing my file no. , which is different than one from cio sydney.
Also they mention:

Before your application can be placed in processing, a determination will be made as to whether or not you are eligible for processing. If your application is not eligible for processing, you will receive a letter informing you of the reasons for the decision as well as a refund.

My question is that what will be the next phase of my aplication like they said if they reject it they will inform me by a letter,
but in case of eligible for processing send they will inform me by email too or not.

Thats your AOR from Buffalo. Keep it safely. You will need that in case you want to change your add and other stuff in future for any reason. Please have lot of patience from here on.

Hi Mainmehta,

Welcome to our journey. We are in the darkest phase of the whole process. Its like you have sent your doc and you are not even sure if they took a look at it. But, I've heard that after opening a file number they roughly check your eligibility based on system points. Then they will do their security background check which is the most time consuming part depends on your back home country. Then they will start to look at your application in more detail. I was hoping that this period would take between 7 to 8 months. However, reality shows at least a year.Any way, best of luck to you and all friends here.

Folks,

Asked this question alredy many times and never got an answer. Can't belive nobody knows it :)
I sent my full application to Buffalo about a month ago. Did not get any responce yet. Qs:

2. Is the notification sent by e-mail or regular mail?
