After reading the quick success stories at new delhi , i have been regretting my decision of choosing buffalo ever since.

the time when i sent my application to CIO, we did not have much info except for narinders case hence i chose safety over risk.
now looking back ,i think i should have done otherwise.

LEts see how long of a wait this would be.

Thanks,

Hi Forum Members,

I am in the process of applying to CIO (very Initial stage). I have my application ready, all i need to do is Fedex it to CIO, NS.
Im Originally from India, in US since 7 years have a Masters from US and applying under NOC 0213. Total work exp 8 yrs.
After reading the posts in this thread i have a quick question to the seniors:

1. Is it wise to put - NEW DELHI as the - "Visa Office requested for the process of your application:" instead of BUFFALO ?
2. If i do so how do i manage things (like submitting full documents at New Delhi) when i stay and work in US ?
3. Is it acceptable to CIC if i opt for NEW DELHI as Visa Office when my present place of Residence is USA ?

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE .........

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank You
HY

I regret it too. Wish I had done it otherwise, but now it is too late to reverse the flow. I was always under the impression that New Delhi was way slower (being in Asia and having more applicants than Buffalo). Anyone who is originally from India and living in USA, I would personally advise you to apply from India. At least the cases on various forums do support the view that New Delhi is way way faster than Buffalo. However, each applicant should make his/her own final decision.

My personal assessment is that it will take anywhere from 1-2 years to get your PR from Buffalo (if not more). This time includes your initial application to CIO. Cases in New Delhi are being resolved in 3-4 months these days. Even in Philippines, it is fast.

Yarla:

You can choose any office you want. Even if you are living in USA, I am pretty sure you visit India at least once a year. In your case, all you have to do is plan your vacation so that it coincides with your interview (if you don't get an interview waiver) and medicals. If you get an interview waiver, then all you have to plan is for your medicals.

So far we have seen the trend wherein ND is faster than Buffalo (based on what other applicants have written). I have yet to find an applicant from USA whose case has been fully resolved.

CIO is just a step introduced to increased tape and bureaucracy. Stupid Jason is trying to promote development in Nova Scotia by having big immigration jobs there. He could have found another reason for this stupid CIO step rather than saying it "fast track". After all this whole immigration deal is a business(lawyers, immigration employees, political agendas for votes, old age pensions..). It is least about immigrants. I would still love to go there because of the country, not political policies......

Anyways, YARLA:

You should apply from India. There you would get PR before the guy who applied in December 2003......'fast track for u', 'slow track for who applied in Dec 2003 at same place' -----> overall ' Jason Kenney's dumb stupid policy in action'. I dot know how these stupid guys become ministers. Looks like politicians are same everywhere, no matter India or Russia or US or Canada.

Thanks for your valuable inputs MarkCan, Sonu81, reachmenow.

I am seriously thinking about applying from New Delhi rather than Buffalo. I gave myself a couple of days to think, will send applications to CIO ON Oct 14th.
I am looking forward for comments/analysis from seniors like you......which would be a great help..!!

Thank you

You are welcome Yarla. I hope you can make a decision soon. Keep us posted.

What is goin on guys? Any new updates from anyone who applied from US?

I guess noone, who has applied through the new method (i.e. nova scotia) has got his medicals till now.. Am I right?

windsor:

I havent come across anyone who has got his medicals yet (NS >>> Buffalo). Buffalo is very slow. I can foretell right now that anyone who applies from Buffalo will have a wait time of at least 12-24 months (at least). This new rule will not be implemented in Buffalo.
