Application through letter: how to check status?

On the 6th of this month, I sent my application for an extension of visitor status through postal services, and I wanted to know: how can I check where my application is at? If it's being processed or not?

You will receive confirmation through mail or email.

Okay...

I sent the application via postal service on the 6th. My last limit to submit it was the 11th.
Does that mean I'm too late, or the postal stamps works as proof?

You should have sent it by courier. Your courier tracking number and receipt are the proof.

The most that can happen is that you missed the extension frame and the application is refused because of that. If so then you will have to reapply but for restoration of status.

Let's hope they are flexible.

But do you know which date they'll count as the submission date? When they receive it, or the stamp of the letter saying I sent it the 6th? ???

Hard to tell, some count it on the "mailed date" and some count it on the "recieved date". Usually what is taken into account is the day they recieve the application.

Again, I have seen CIC sometimes being flexible and other times not.

How long should I wait before I start worrying, then? I've seen the processing time right now is about 114 days.
Does that mean I'll get the answer is around that many days, or do they send a mail saying that they received your application?

I would give it a month.
