Guys, can you help me clear out something? Few weeks ago I got reply from VO that my application is pending for background checks. Does that mean that they are doing these checks or my application is waiting for them to start these bckground checks. (maybe they would put something like your background checks are in process).

Early June they replied to a CSE within about three weeks:

"Our office has just received the applications transferred form Berlin to our office. You will be informed about the further steps in due course, presumably in the course of the coming autumn."

Well, autumn ends in about a week :

Early October they replied to another CSE within one (!) working day:

"This is to confirm receipt of your file from Berlin. You will be informed about the further steps in your application in due course."

At least I know that they did receive the actual file. Everything else is just a question of time. I expect to get my CAIPS notes around Christmas. We'll see what goodies they include

This could mean both. However, usually when they start working on the files, they do it all in "one go", therefore I would assume that they started your background checks and are waiting for the results. They are sometimes done by external agencies.

It might be one reason for the delay in accepting new FSW applications. I still hope for an earlier date :

It might also connect to the new spring deadline judging from the inquiry of trying's friend. They are probably targeting sorting out pending cases on or before spring since new applications would start trickling in by May.
