Hello everyone, I am new here to the forum and really enjoy reading the posts. I need some advice from you:my application reached CIO on November 27, 2014. But in my package I did not include my police check (neither back home or in Canada, I am studying in Canada). I did so because I didn't want to bother my family to get it for me. May I ask when I should get the police check ready so that it will not delay the process?
It really depends on how reliable the process back home is. I did not get mine until I was asked by CIC and it took me less than 2 weeks to finger print, mail it home (Nigeria) and have the certificate mailed back to me. I used UPS for both stages. If you are not too sure, you might wanna start earlier hoping your application will progress to that stage.

Dear all,

I am pleased to inform you that my tuition fees have been reduced to the domestic rate.

Many thanks to all of you who helped me to achieve this.

I am very thankful to all guys who suggested me to fight and claim my right.

Cheers guys!
Congrats. Do you know if this applies to the University of Alberta? Does anyone have any information on UofA?

I have a question about posting of physical copy. What should I write on the package ? Any description that this is just a payment form or something like that ?

You have to first start with a subject like " updating credit card information". Then, explain the situation and mention that you have attached a new form of fee payment. You can also ask them to confirm the receipt of that fax by providing your email address.

Thanks. Good Idea. Do you have any further information about that fax number? I searched over the web, some people said that it is obsolete.

Do you think sending them a physical copy would help ? or should I just send them an email ?

It will take 45 days to get response from them if you use email. As all mentioned, you have to try all the ways simultaneously. Fax, mail, and email altogether. But, before that, just check with you credit card company and tell them you do not want the new one right now as you are waiting for an important transaction. Tell them (politely and respectfully) if this transaction fails, you will officially complain against them as your card will expire on 2016 and there is no need for any new card.

I agree!
Kamran, I have this feeling that bank people that you contacted are kind of avoiding responsibility! I'm sure there are important, major and big transactions happening by many other customers too. So the bank shouldn't end everything abruptly, because it damages their bank's reputation!; they should have a flexibility system somewhere in place for these situations. Maybe there are few people who know about this and can make such decision. Try to find them.
If you wanna update your card, make sure to explain the situation and add "emergency" to the title. Also see if there is any emergency contact on CIC website. And definitely send the physical one by expedite post.

Gushh, now I am worried myself; I need to go to my bank and threaten them not to close my card before its expiry!

Pepe, mamali, and darknight,

For adaptability points, did you include your Phd transcript in your application?

So we know already that Pepe added an enrollment letter. What about other folks who got adaptability points? What did you add that helped you with adaptability points for phd studies in Canada?

I did not send criminal record check from home either. When CIC contacted you, how much time did they give you to send the criminal record check to them?

Guys, Thanks for all your replies. I was just talking to CIBC branch. Actually they can not do anything. They called Visa company while I was there and they were told that this is a central decision with no exception. So I think I will try contacting CIO using different ways. Pray for me.

Thanks again.

One of my friend also update like this and got approved. Please make sure you provide your (along with your dependents) UCI, DOB, full name at the end of your e-mail.
Good luck.

Attestation letter should be fine, however if you finish at least two years then providing transcript should not hurt. I personally provided both. This actually helps in a sense that if something goes wrong with the attestation letter than you have an alternative option with ur transcript to meet the Ministral requirements.

I received 10 points because of my spouse's IELTS and 2 years study.

The thing that I do not understand from GCMS is:

There is an activity called: selection! and the status is not started! I am wondering if all of you have this activity? If no, this maybe the reason for the delay of my passport request.

Thanks.

Usually selection factor started from the visa office. Whatever the points you got, actually given by the Sydney office from the primary assessment of ur application package. So these points might change when VO started their processing and once u passed the threshold, will recommend to pass the selection factor.
Hope this helps.
