Hi,

I want to ask question about, nowadays how much is the average time to get PER? or
information about opening file ?.
I have applied under PhD stream (CPC Ottawa) and my my application was received
on October 6, 2014.

Thanks

Yesterday, I received an email from CPC but no passport request. I have been requested medical exam for my second application with NOC 2133 (Electrical Engineer). My timeline for both application is as below:

PhD Stream:
Reached CIO: 2 June, 2014
PER: 17 September, 2014
Medical Request: 16 Oct
----------------------------------
NOC 2133- Electrical Engineer

Reached CIO: 11 June, 2014
PER: 8 October, 2014
Medical Request: 3 December, 2014
--------------------------------------
In my case we can see PhD stream is slightly faster. Another interesting point is I received my Access to Information Act after medical request for PhD stream, and I noticed they did not give me 5 points adaptability but even without those points I obtained 68 points. But for my second application I am quite sure without 5 points I could not pass the eligibility. So it means for NOC 2133 they gave me 5 points whereas they did not give me those points for PhD stream.

Also, in the email they asked me to send a copy of my passport as well as RPRF receipt via MAIL not Email. The reason they asked me a copy of passport can be related to expiry date of my passport. I renewed my passport in August. Also, they asked me to update them about my eye color and height, I guess they might think I grow up these days :)

I wish there is an option that they can use the Medical results and RPRF of my PhD application for Electrical Engineer application then I do not need to go all the medical process again.

If your CC is charged, you will definitely get PER. It usually takes around 2-3 weeks to get PER. Don't worry.

UofT's school of grad studies forwards an email to international students at the beginning of the year to remind them that in case they apply for permanent residence, they should inform their graduate unit of their positive eligibility review once they receive it in order to be eligible for a tuition reduction.

This is based on the decision of the Government of Ontario (The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities). Individual universities do not have the authority to deny you this exemption. If they ignore your request, you should show them the ministerial decision. If they insist, I would threaten to take legal action.

Thanks for the suggestion, I don't want to go against the policies of my financial department so I will stay calm and wait for the CoPR! I think Canadian Universities all have different policies, starting with the skyrocketing amount of tuition Intl students pay in Ontario compared to Universities in Saskatchewan/Alberta.

You will probably get it after new year or very late Dec. For me it took about 4 months to get PER.

Hello Admanat! I have been charged on the same day, 20 Nov. I haven't received the PER either. I guess we just need to be patient and wait.

Thanks for the reply. Thats relieve me a little bit for sure. But as you know CIC is always very unpredictable. This is my second application, last time they refused me after charging my CC without the file number and obviously now you would like to know why they reject? It was just bcoz of the bloody work experience letter which they did not found quite detail. I have asked for the fees but they have refused also. Sorry if I am scaring you guys but we have to hold our heart for any situation. This was my experience :(((.

Honestly I don't think national ID is critical and your application would be rejected because it is missing. I have a national ID and I didn't even include that in my application! My application included my passport and my birth certificate which include all the info that is on my national ID. So I didn't bother to get translations and send it to CIC.

Hi Viva2014

If we look at the official statistic (Google "Applications we will accept – Federal skilled workers") there are "227 of 500 (as of November 19, 2014)." So there should be no worry about the cap?

My situation is even more pessimistic. I still have to wait for my national ID (original document) to be delivered to me and then to get a certified copy. I can only submit my application on around Dec 8 or 9. Are Two business days the fastest one can ever expect?

Thanks

Yes, go ahead and apply, I didn't include my national id either. As this is a very informal question (because they never specified if this had to be a national id from your home country), I never submitted my national id, besides it expired a few months ago, lol.

"The employment letter signed by xxxxxxxxx from xxxxxx University xxxxx indicates your research, laboratory work, and teaching assistantship as 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday. However, according to documents provided, you are enrolled in full-time study and, therefore, I am not satisfied that you also obtained full-time work experience for the same time period. Evidence of part A above cannot be established"

That s the reason my first application was refused. Fees were charged and NO PER but NER!
So, what do you suggest? Making it 35 h/w or so if better than 39h?

Sorry to hear that. One of my friends experienced exactly the same thing. He got charged but the application was returned. The rejection reason was also regarding to work experience and reference letter. Good luck with the new application!

I had 39 in my letter and apparently it is approved.
