The OGS letter should suffice! make sure it is signed by the Office of grad Studies (OGS)

Is there anybody applied after PhD defense?
Is it mentioned in your transcript "PhD awarded" ?

I am asking because in document checklist it says for PhD graduate "transcript indicating you were awarded a PhD within past 12 months".
I just defended and graduated and am going to apply for PhD stream, but the degree will be awarded in 6 month in convocation! This makes me worried, I have the graduation letter from grad studies stating that "I successfully defended and accomplished all requirements for PhD", and a transcript in which the status of research and seminar changed from IP (in progress) to CR (guess Credited).
Is it enough?
Do they want an awarded PhD after convocation?

Thanks

Hi all, I am preparing my application and I should be ready to submit it sometime before Christmas. Do you think that should be ok, since they will shut down the Phd stream in January, according to what I've heard?

Also, do we need to submit national ID card (non-Canadian in my case) or birth certificate?

Thanks a lot everyone!

Apply as fast as you can, don't wait a single day if you don't need to.

Thanks TyrusX, I simply cannot apply sooner because I am collecting papers, plus I have scheduled CELPIP test for Dec 6th. I am basically wondering if CIC will accept my application if they receive it shortly before January 1st.

Also, should I either submit an ID card or a birth certificate?

Thanks!

All documents RECEIVED before JAN 1ST will be considered if the total number of application is not reached the cap (500). Sending the birth certificate is necessary and checklist form indicates that you MUST submit a translated copy of it.

I Feel you have u submit birth certificate as a proof of you date of birth, I submitted my national ID and Passport but I provided them with the birth certificate for myself and my wife, I think they are very much particular about documents, so don't take any risk provide them all documents in similar manner as thy are required or asked.

Hello everyone. I finally got my passport returned. My details so far:

Application sent: 18 Feb, 2014
Application reached CIO: 21 Feb, 2014
PER issued: 17 Mar 2014
RPRF/Medical/ PCC request: 30 Sep, 2014
Passport Request: 28 Oct, 2014
Passport Returned: 17 Nov, 2014
Number of people: 1
Experience: Software Engineer (2173)
Nationality: Indian

I had a few questions about landing. I was thinking of entering the US with two of my friends from the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge. It's one hour away from where I live. From there we would head down to Syracuse for some work and return via Thousand Islands Bridge – Alexandria Bay / Lansdowne. All three of us have US visas. Now, when we reach the Canadian border, will my friends be allowed to wait for me to complete the landing ?

Another question about documents. I am taking a 6 month bank statement. Plus statements from my Credit Card. I noticed that the COPR had two copies with only one of them having my photograph. Is this normal ? Should I take extra photographs ? Also, I am bringing nothing into Canada and nothing later. However, I will be driving my car. Is that something the border officials will consider as bringing into Canada ? Should I bring something else along? I will bring my Study Permit along.

And this forum has been amazing. This is my second attempt and I have found this thread extremely useful. Thank you everyone and I hope you all get your PRs soon.

Finally seen the third line. Medicals received. I thought it would make me happy, but it didn't. Hopefully PPR comes soon. Oh Canada!

Hey guys, do you have any idea how quickly is the cap filling? It is now 180 of 500 (as of November 6, 2014), which was almost 2 weeks ago. I assume more and more people will try to apply before January 1st. Do you think it will reach the maximum before then? I won't be able to apply before mid December and am kinda worried about that :'(

No one can truely answer your question as there is no way of knowing. The only advice I can give you is that you apply as soon as you can and not a day later. All the best.

Yes it is normal. Take few photographs (to be in safe side), bank statements for last 6 months (I was asekd), proof of address (I used driving license), study permit,

However, I will be driving my car. Is that something the border officials will consider as bringing into Canada ? Should I bring something else along? I will bring my Study Permit along.

I rented a car and traveled alone. The custom officer just asked me about the ownership of the car (I replied rented) but not any documents.

And this forum has been amazing. This is my second attempt and I have found this thread extremely useful. Thank you everyone and I hope you all get your PRs soon.

FYI: I landed on November 8, 2014 from Sarina Blue Water Bridge, Ontario.
