I am 90% sure that as soon as the FSW program is substituted by the Express Entry, the PhD stream will no longer exist. What could happen is that CIC may continue accepting applications in Jan 2015 until all caps are full. But when all caps are full, including the PhD stream cap, then forget about any category of the FSW program. Sadness but reality!

This is correct. The FSW and PhD stream will surely cease to exist in its current form next year.

Dear All,
Any one may have clarification of the below:

"We will not use registered mail or postage coupons. If you do not submit a return prepaid Xpresspost envelope or if you provide an envelope from any other courier, we will return your passport by regular mail."

The above two lines are the last two lines in the PPR email. Now, because I used UPS with a return envelope does that mean they will send my passport using the regular mail and NOT the return envelope.

Thanks

They only asked employment contract or bank account statements from me. I showed them my bank account statements proving I have enough money to support myself (over $11,824, the required amount for a single person). That was it. However I actually took copies of all the documents I submitted to CIC with me, including my pay stubs, employment letters, previous study permits, etc. I suggest be prepared, just in case.

And of course, passport and proof of PR document that CIC sent along with your passport.

Which documents are necessary for landing at the border?

Hello folks!

How many days after the doctor submits the e-medical results, we should expect to see "Medical results have been received" in the online service?

Hi, it might vary for person to person. In my case, it took 9 days from the date of medical exam.

Thank you very much Pepe84 for your immediate response to my questions. I guess you cleared all my doubts. I have been RAing since 2.5 years without gap however, i did TAing for just two semesters and with gaps as they (University) assign TAing every fall and winter semester and not in summer. Althought i have masters from Canadian University, i got assessed my foreign credentials for my undergrad/professional degree from WES. I guess its time to apply now. Thanks again for wonderful help pepe!

Best Regards,

Hello,

Your IELTS scores are good to apply under this category, because you are above the threshold on each band. You should get a maximum of 20 points in the language skill. As for work experience, you can certainly use the RA/TA from the academia. Now it has to be continuous, full time or the equivalent to a part time for at least one year. If you have been TAing or RAing for 2.5 yrs without any gaps, you should be eligible to apply.

Don't forget to have your foreign credentials assesed before submitting your application. If you have earned an MSc degree or BSc from Canada, this does not apply to you.

Cheers and best luck!

HI all,

I received my Certificate of PR in the post on Wednesday 15th October 2014. Off to the border tomorrow to officially obtain PR status! Thanks for all your help and good luck to everyone on here. If you have any questions, please ask. Just to note: I had only TA/RA experience -- good news for many here, I'm sure.

Could someone please update the spreadsheet?

Hi GeographyPhD,
Congratulations,
Could you please let us know when did you receive your passport request and when did you send your passport to Ottawa?
I wanna know how long it took for them to stamp your passport and send it back to you.

Thank you,

Hi Geography PhD, Could you please let me know how many years of TA/RA experience did you have until you submit your application? Could you please share your letter from your supervisor/University for work experience. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Dear all,

I am not sure what these two lines which are the last two lines in the "passport request email" means; or if someone can clarify them for me.

"We will not use registered mail or postage coupons. If you do not submit a return prepaid Xpresspost envelope or if you provide an envelope from any other courier, we will return your passport by regular mail."

Does that mean they will send my passport using the regular mail?As I have used UPS to send my passport.

Thanks

Thanks

UBC2010,
I don't think that courier is a problem. I know people who have used courier and have received their passports. For you and me, the reason we have not received the passport yet is just because they haven't send it to us! I hope they finish whatever they wanna do on the weekend and send us our passports on Monday...

By the way, what did they reply to your email? Anything useful?

Hello All,

Today I have been requested for Medical test as well as RPRF fee. I would appreciate if you could clarify me about following question:

My Info:

Medical and RPRF requests: Oct-16-2014

*** This is my second application in PhD stream, my first application rejected May 2014 due to lack of points (66 points)
