No. It's not a must. They ask it from applicants who have a very common name. I received passport request and was never asked for RCMP.

Actually, my name is much more common than my partner's and they asked for RCMP from her and not from me. Who knows what they're thinking?

Thank you Albaik. Your answers are very helpful.

I have job offer.

I was thinking of putting the intended job postdoctoral fellow/university professor because I have received a job offer for two years as post-doctoral fellow but it is conditioned that it will start after I successfully submit my PhD thesis. In this case, would it still be considered under the PhD stream or would it be considered under the arranged employment category?

Thank you very much and wish you all the best with your application process.

Hi Hisham,

If this is the case, then, your only option is to apply under the PhD category unless you have a job offer.

You can add Dentist as your intended occupation even if it is not one of the eligible occupation. I added "Project Management" and it had not been one of the eligible NOCs... My application has been found eligible by both, Sydney and Ottawa.

I provided the answer based around my own experience, situations may differ from case to case depending on several factors, including but not limited to work experience (no. of years), strength of reference letters, and the overall strength of your application. Keep in mind that the officer is the ultimate decision maker and S/he may accept an application to be eligible while refuse a similar application for whatever the reason S/he may find.

I provided my two cents, however, the final decision is yours.

Best Regards,

Hi Hisham,

Your only option is under the PhD category as your job offer is NOT valid as it does not meet the conditions set by CIC.

The job offer should be be permanent, non-seasonal and full time in skill 0, A, or B. Unfortunately, post-doctorate positions are not permanent (they have end date). Permanent job offer does not have an end date.

Your best bet is to apply under the PhD stream. You can put NOC 4011 "University professors and lecturers" as your intended occupation.

Again, I'm neither an immigration professional nor consultant, however, I just provide my own understanding, which may not be correct.

Best Regards,

Hi Albaik

Thank you for your advice. I appreciate all your help. I will apply under the PhD stream and put the employment letter as an extra. But I will write that I am applying under the PhD stream.

Thank you again and wish you the best.

You may want to consider this as well:
I have seen a case in this forum that has been asked to provide a letter from his employee to show he is still working (not sure if that was provided as a proof of fund or something else but it was not meant to be a job offer). He got rejected because of misunderstanding of the officer, as he thought the extra letter is the employment letter under the NOC code the applicant has selected. But it was not such a letter and didn't even include duties or hours. So the officer rejected his application because the employment letter did not match NOC and ...

So my suggestion is not to include anything extra if you do not necessarily need it or if it does not have any benefit towards your application.

Hello,

Does anyone email CIC to have a confirmation of medical result received? Could you let me know the email address that you contacted?
My medical result was uploaded to CIC on June 13, but my eCas doesn't show any update. So I just want to ask them whether they received it.

Thanks.

Hi sa-ha,

For completeness, can you also share what kind of work experience you included with your application? And do you remember when your credit card got charged last year? Thanks, and congrats for your MR :)

Anyway, for those who want to be included in the spreadsheet, please try to be as complete as possible in providing your information. It would only be helpful for others :)

Hi all,

CIC asked me to submit some documents. Would you guys please help me interpreting the following paragraph.

- Police certificates for yourself, your spouse and each dependent child over the age of 18
o You, your spouse and your dependent children over the age of 18 must submit an updated police certificate from the country where they are currently residing
o You must submit a police certificate from every country where you and your spouse have resided more than six months if it has not already been submitted; this requirements applies also to your dependent children if they have resided in foreign countries for more than six months after their 18th birthday

Do I need to also get a PC for Canada as well? I have been living in Canada since 2010?

I have submitted a police certificate from my country of origin in my initial submission in 2012, does this mean that I do not need to submit an updated PC, since it says "... if it has not already been submitted ..." and they used the word "updated" just for the "country where I am are currently residing".

Thanks in advance.
-You do not need to submit police certificate from Canada:

"All applicants must submit police certificates/clearances as part of the application process.
You and all of your family members who are 18 years of age and older and who are not already permanent residents or Canadian citizens will have to provide:
a valid police certificate, or
police clearance, or
record of no information.
These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18."

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG7TOC.asp

-They want the "updated" police certificate from your home country.

Dear all,

I have two questions here. I hope some senior guys could help me :)

1. Should we submit the proof of fund together with the original application package? My bank state doesn't have six months history.

2. What value should I enter in form IMM 0008 Schedule 3 for settlement funds?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I think a 3 month history will be sufficient for the moment but it makes it more probable that the officer asks for an updated proof of fund when they start processing your application in Visa office (probably close to one year after the submission date).

settlement fund should be the amount of money you have on your proof of fund letter. It should be any amount greater than the minimum mentioned on the website (based on the number of applicants on your file)

1. You should include the proof of fund showing your current balance. But, it is not obligatory to include the 6 months history at the time of application. However, they will ask for it later and you don't know when they are going to ask for it. It is even possible that they ask for it 1 month after your application.
2. A value the same as your current balance (which should be more than the minimum amount). If you have other properties like car or ..., you can include them as well.
