Hi all, I finished my immigration journey by landing at Port Prescott yesterday. Today I withdrew my FSW-PhD application. I would like to thank you all for the useful information, especially for the samples of work experience reference letters. Wish you all good luck!

Here is complete timeline for my CEC application:

Application received at CIO: 4-Jan-2013
Got File Number: 14-Feb-2013
Medical Request: 04-Nov-2013
Medical Sent: 25-Nov-2013
Medical Received: 16-Dec-2013
Decision Made: 19-Dec-2013
Passport Request:20-Dec-2013
Passport Sent: 21-Dec-2013
Passport back with immigration visa: 07-Jan-2014
Landed: 11-Jan-2014 @ Prescott Port.

Special notice to Quebec applicants: for landing, do NOT go to Quebec border or Port Cornwall. They will ask for CSQ which we obviously don't have. Then they will refuse to complete the landing process and ask you come next time with a CSQ. Some people tried to land at Rainbow Bridge. and I tried at Prescott Port, we didn't have the CSQ issue.

One of my friends has sent her documents to Sydney on November 12, 2013. She is still waiting for the response from CIC, but she has heard from others some applicants have rejected with the reason of non originality of the attestation letter. She is worry about this because the person has rejected is from the same university and she had the same sealed attestation letter. But she is thinking it might be because of the stamp on the letter that is not a letter with embossed stamp. I just wanna know about your attestation letter, since you could get PER from Sydney. Do you think there is a way to add any documents before having file number?

I wonder about this too, especially since the checklist stipulates "stamped with the company official seal IF APPLICABLE" - lots of companies do not use a seal.

Thanks. I applied from Quebec. CIC didn't ask any document about proof of intention to live outside of Quebec.

Hi everyone,

I just registered an account here, but I've been looking at the posts here for couple months. Thank you for the helpful input, everyone!

I'm applying with my fiancé, who is a PhD student. Here is our timeline to share.

Sept 27, 2013: Sent our application
Early December, 2013: Our application got returned because his work experience is about 100 hours short and my birth certificate is not quite right.
Jan. 13, 2014: We re-submitted our application with new employment letter, which has enough hours, updated reference letter (based on the one from this forum), and my new birth certificate. They received it today.

He only includes TA in his application. Since our school changed the research assistantship to research studentship, so it doesn't count as work experience any more.

Hope it will help some people get a sense about the application. :)

Welcome to the thread. With just TA, how would the PA manage to locate a period of one year continuous employment to satisfy the minimum requirement?. Something to think about, since TA is discontinuous. You cannot combine discontinuous periods of work experience to show a one year full time experience (if I understand your post right).

I received my Visa and COPR yesterday.

The problem with my COPR is that the original entry date on my COPR is the same as the last entry date and both are January 2012.

The last entry date is correct while my fist entry to Canada has been September 2009. Is this an error?

He has been a TA for more than 4 years, term by term. In our university, there are 3 term each year, and each term is 4 months. So, his TAship is continuous.

Seems to be the case. You might be able to correct this at the border. Email CPP-O and let them know of the error and ask if they have to re-issue the COPR.

Also, search for other related threads on this forum. Here is a one that is most relevant for you

Seems that it is not a big deal after all..

I checked with one of my friends and the last entry date and the original entry date for him is the same on his COPR as well.

I appreciate if anyone in the forum who has landed recently can confirm this.

I had the same problem and I asked immigration officer about it during landing and he said it was not a big deal and he didn't correct it.
But make sure to keep the entry stamp of Sept. 2009 carefully. You may need it as a proof if there is an issue in the future.

Great! Congrats. This is a good news for Iranians for whom we were suspicious that their passport request takes a long time.

Hello everyone,

I have followed this forum for a long time, and it is very useful.

Today I just received my PPR. I'm wondering if I should send two photos with my passport, because the ready for visa email does not mention if photo is required.

Thanks.
