Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

Can anyone help me with this issue?

I got my package returned. A letter attached said that my letter from the university for the 2y phd study is not original. But actually it is, with all the requirements satisfied (template, signature and official stamp). It can be identified by the place where the stamp is on the back.

Now I am totally confused ...

Anybody met with the same issue?

Strange! When did you apply? From where was it returned? Sydney or Ottawa?

While then our cases are different. I got all requests at the same time for med, PRPR and passport.

A little more information regarding my application.

One applicant, single, 2 yrs work experience (TA/RA)

Don't know what to add here...

What I basically did was provide all the materials according to the checklist.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Is your TA/RA work experience reported in T4A or T4 tax clip?

I'd recommend not going for 40 hrs/week as this may conflict with the fact the you are/were a full-time student. This has been discussed before in this thread. I don't think there is an exact answer, but my guess is 25-30 hrs/week may be more reasonable. That said, I think there were cases were even 40 hrs/week was accepted. RA experience (or any work while studying) is no longer accepted in the CEC. For the PhD stream, it is still acceptable. It does not make your application weak. Some of us actually applied with only RA experience. Just make sure you check this thread for good reference letter templates.

Yes, since the USA and Canada have a reciprocity agreement regarding travel for Citizens of the two countries. This means the counterfoil (Visa sticker so to say) does not have to be pasted on your passport.

PS: You might still get the 'Ready for Visa' letter and would be requested for two recent photographs (specifications are similar to the one you submitted initially with the application). One for the COPR and the other for the PR card

The rejection rate of the PhD stream for the people who are not in this forum should be much higher. If you look at the tracker all of us have updated our reference letters. I myself updated it two times. Otherwise, my application had been rejected because of the word ASSIST. I also believe that they try their best to reject applications in the PhD stream.

I know two students in my department who applied under this stream and got rejected for their reference letters. I would guess it is higher for those who don't know to update. I'm pretty sure I would have been rejected if I did not update my letters.

I would suggest take a copy although it is highly unlikely they wold ask for one. Make sure you save the COPR for life !. You would need that in case you apply for Citizenship in the future.

No, it is not necessary. My RA and many of my friends was reported on T4A and we didn't have any problem.
