Hi all;

I have one other question... This is for out of CANADA work experience letter, that is your HOMECOUNTRY and you don't need a permit to work :)

If you have literally worked full-time, i.e. 40 hrs / week, but mean while you were studying towards your Masters Degree.

Do you see any problem? Will they accept the work experience full or will they deduct some hours for Masters study...
I myself had the same situation. I was working for a company in my home country when I was studying towards my MSc at the same time. I did not claim that work experience because I found it too hard to explain with the overlapping time periods in the forms and all... But I guess you could give it a try. Worst-case scenario it will not be accepted. I would suggest you send a cover letter explaining the situation so that they don't get confused.

Hi guys,

I'm planning to apply my PR now. My situation is that I'm qualified for applying under the Phd stream as well as the family (spouse) sponsorship stream (my spouse is a Canadian citizen). I just don't know which way would be easier and faster......does anyone have any suggestions or comments?

And if Phd stream is a better option, I'm wondering does anyone know who should be responsible to sign the reference letter that lists the RA/TA working experience & duties? The supervisor? Graduate student advisor? or the department's chair?

Thanks a lot! :)
Oh I think the family sponsorship is waaaaaaaaaay easier and faster... That is if your spouse is working and has income that can support you.

That's true. PhD stream is way more prone to rejection, and it's most likely much slower, but spousal sponsorship is subject to a two-year condition, so it's also something to keep in mind (though for the majority of genuine cases, this obviously won't be an issue).

I was actually the first one who noticed that a newbie who makes informative and well-educated comments is the one who disappeared after hitting 888. ;) I left a comment and then removed it shortly after, I thought maybe he doesn't want people know that... :)

a quick question for those who've gotten their CAIPS notes: I received mine and I notice that in many fields, in the steps that I have "passed", there is nothing written for my partner (as in the field "status" is blank). Is there some sort of privacy reason for that, or does it mean that she hasn't passed those steps yet?

They're probably conducting security checks on your partner, and you won't ever know what they're doing while they're checking security. I'm assuming that at least she has passed medical and criminality?
