Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

ecas is not showing any status of my application, earlier it was application received on...
Is it normal after PER email?

Any comments?

In my opinion (which is not an expert's opinion), I would say that they did not consider the additional documents you sent them back on June. The rejection letter sounded weird though:

Why would the reference letter be dated November 22 2012? Did you send anything to them back in November? Or was it supposedly November 2011? If that was the case, as you mentioned, I do not think they have considered the letter you sent back on June (since they explicitly mentioned that the your reference letter was dated November '11, and not June '12; if they had considered your June 2012 letter, and made decision based on this, they would have mentioned it in the rejection email). Because based on that letter, I really don't see how it wouldn't match the "leading statement" of NOC 4012 (or NOC 4122 as they mentioned). I don't understand, however, why they said they did consider it.


Hi Brit_Immigrant, just wondering, did you send your documents directly to CPP-Ottawa? Or were you one of the transferred cases from Buffalo?

I stated Buffalo on my application but I don't know if it ever made it to Buffalo or they sent it straight to Ottawa.

Hello all,

I have a question about the PhD stream and the funds requirement. I just received an email for document request from the Ott-Pilot office. Similar to many other cases I have seen on this forum, they asked for 1- Proof of funds, 2- Evidence of account activity in the past 6 months.

I don't have the 11,000$ or so that is required for a single applicant. I have about 8,000$ in my account and that's it. At the time of application, I had a lot more money because I had received a lump sum payment to cover expenses for a year, which I have been spending from for almost a year now.

The question is, at this point is it reasonable for me to go and borrow money from somewhere or will that look bad? Also, would it be better if I included a letter from the university that I am a funded student and wrote another letter explaining the situation (with the lump sum payment and all)? How strict is the funding requirement?

EXACTLY. They didn't consider it, and now their best reply to my case would be "we did consider it". LOL

Yes, I agree. They have probably felt you misrepresent yourself. They clearly say that they considered your last letter.

BTW, I also called CIC a few days ago , and talked to an agent regarding this issue (sending a supplementary reference letter to Ottawa to provide more details about my duties as RA). She clearly told me that "Yes, you are allowed. I can guarantee that the officer will make his decision based on your supplementary reference letter". Let's see what happens. I did what she instructed me .

But I should say try your chance, maybe you get a good officer.

If you borrow the money they will see it on your account. I mean:they ask you for a statement and then right after the request you deposit a large sum. They will put 2 and 2 together. However, I don't think they expect us to have had the funds consistently for 6 months. Do you have regular paycheques, regular deposits on your account? If so you should fine. It means the money is yours. I'm not sure though. Wait for the seniors' feedback

According to the CIC website, and the CIC agent I talked to a few days ago, You must e-mail it to CPP-OTTAWA with a short explanation in the e-mail text.

Can anyone please let me know what their ecas shows? Did you have any status after receiving PER email--in process, we received...
For me until yesterday it was showing we received...today not showing anything. My worry is that I have an old pre 2008 application in process too, the fate of which is unknown, so don't know if I can have two applications in process. Only the old one is showing up on ecas.
