Thank you asbereth for your complete answer.

In the case of 5 points for two years of studies in Canada, I'm a bit surprised! According to CIC website (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/factor-adaptability.asp), it clearly mentions "There is no need to have obtained a degree or diploma for these two years of study to earn these points".

Also, for the proof of relatives in Canada, I 'll submit all of the document that I have (birth certificates and passport copies for my parents and my brother and myself); but, my concerns is that in my brother's passport our father's name is spelled differently (U instead of O). Do you think this would be a problem?

Anyway, I will be able to submit my application by the end of January. Fingers crossed :)

My CAIPS info arrived and according to it I got the 5 points for that despite the fact that I did not grad from a univeristy in Canada. Weird huh.

Hi guys .... some good news over here ..... I received my passport request today !!!!!

Good luck for all of you !!!!

Congratulations :).

For me, I also received an email from the amazing CIC just yesterday. Unfortunately, the great CIC is asking me to submit a fingerprints clearance from RCMP. What pissing me off is that when CIC contacted RCMP to check my criminality record back in May, the RCMP replied asking for my finger prints. I emailed the great CIC in July asking them if I need to submit the finger prints or not, but as usual, they didn't reply to me. They worked on my file in June to assess my eligibility and asked for the medical examination in October though, they just remembered to ask for the finger prints yesterday!!!!! >:(.

No wonder CIC has a backlog!. It is all because the way they are working.

Sorry to hear about that. You need to do it electronically from the police office (not on paper) .... it took 3 days for RCMP and a week to reach CIC. But if you do it using paper finger print it might take few months.

Thank you for posting all the recent updates. I just wanted to clarify some questions if you could help me please.

As you said, according to the new NOC 2011 classification, the TA/RA is carrying the code no 4012. Thanks you for mentioning about that. But do you know when the deadline is for the 2011 cap? The website says 853 out of 1000 already reached. also I read somewhere that they will bring changes to FSW by May 2013. I am almost ready with all my documents and I am very confused whether to send or not. Because I am applying with my spouse and it will cost 1100.00CAD for both of us. Please help me!!

Do you know if when CIC would bring this change and are you sure that they will not consider those with TA/RA full-time students then? I solely depend on that. Otherwise I dont have enough experience (only 1821 hours) to be counted. also starting next year means when? do you know a time frame? Also as mentioned by some other threads, there is this changes introduced in the gazette. do you know when it will take effect?

Cap was reopened Nov. 1 2012. PhD stream applicants will not be affected by new regulations if application is sent before May 4 2013.

They haven't started on security checks yet whatsoever. But one thing to note though is that they have an obligation to perform these checks within a year's time from the time that they created your application in their system - which is essentially the date they started processing your app.
