I know one of my colleague who got the passport back after 3 months. It's upto them. I sent my passport to them immediately and they took the time. But now a days, I don't think it will take more than 3 weeks.
Thank you skonw_walker and TyrusX for your replies. I guess we can not make plans once we send our passports since they may take days, weeks or even months to return them. Wom! Thank again.

One guy got a document request around July last year (crazyleader), then got rejected just a month ago because the officer wasn't convinced he would not settle at Quebec. It's hard to say, but it's probably better if you can somehow qualify under a different stream. Have you looked at their provincial nominee programs (or something Quebec specific)?

Dear esi110 and creazyleader,

I'm an Iranian PhD student in Quebec, too. Going through the last few pages of the forum particularly concerns about proving future intention of residence in other provinces, and bank statement stuff is making me damn worried. So, I'd like to get in touch with you, too. Please let me know if we can see each other in this week.

Thanks.

proving that you dont settle in Quebec should be not hard. If you dont know french then you can not apply for CSQ which is a requirement for job in Quebec, so you simply cant get a job in Quebec becasue you dont know french. right?! so your only option would be to work in other provinces. Does this sound right?!

You basically need to prove that you will be able to graduate and hold a job in another province. If they think you will stay there they will reject you. It seems you need to be close to finishing you degree to stand any chance of doing the first.

Please Comment:

I have friend who applied for PhD stream on Nov. 2011 and he got rejection on Nov. 2012 as he did not have enough money in his account at the time that he was requested 6 months activity. He reapplied on Dec and he got his PER around two weeks ago. Now he got a Document Request after two weeks just for 6 months activity of his account. Note that he did not submitted his 6 months activity on Dec. So, I am really surprised about his case and It is totally unbelievable for me to say Ottawa has even open his file after two weeks.

Does your friend have enough money this time? I wonder though why he would be in such a hurry to reapply, knowing that he would almost definitely be asked for the bank statement history again. They were probably already really familiar with his case, so they could skip the majority of work experience validation process, and jump straight to proof of funds (since they probably have confirmed his eligibility in minimum requirements and selection factor). Hopefully this would be a positive decision this time.

Does any body know a similar case? Can we conclude that if somebody re-apply, they will consider him/her much faster?

Maybe your friend can wait until two months, while trying to put some funds into his/her account gradually to reach the minimum.

Yes hopefully he has enough money this time. But he just had this money for three months by considering that he just rejected about three months ago. I think this not about being familiar with his case. This is totally strange. How they could know that he has a rejection and let an officer to work on his case after two weeks. Do they separated the one who reapplied and the one who applied for the first time and then they assign an officer to process the rejected application in two weeks. This is unbelievable for me. But at the same time I could be totally wrong.

But unfortunately they just give him 1 month to submit the 6 months activity.

Apart from PR application, I have a question about study permit application.

For example, If I have document (enrollment, funding) for application till August, but I want to extend untill october which will cover my convocation. Can I put october in the application. Is it allowed?? What you guys do, if you can remember, Please share, that would be helpful for me to decide.
I have extended my study permit only once before. They had given me three additional months than what I asked for. I think it is pretty typical to give a two-three month additional on top of what your expected date of completion is. Point being, they give you the extra time to wrap up & apply for work permit if you have to (that is my guess). Maybe others will have better idea.
I am in a similar boat. I am graduating in May'13, but won't be convocating until November'13. My study permit expires in March. I am thinking of renewing it until August 2013, which is until my current funding runs out.
