Hello Fellow Travelers!

My wife just got her AOR in the email, but we're concerned that IRCC used her maiden name to address her in the email versus her name-after-marriage. We have been trying to contact IRCC on their helpline, but have not been able to get through. Our concern is that they're processing the file under the wrong name and that will present complications down the line.

Has anyone else had a similar issue and are we freaking out over nothing?

Thanks!

Not had that issue however you could fill out the online form and submit that as a request to use her married name

If you have provide everything and all your stuff is upto date, you shouldn't worry. Just keep trying to call cic and ask them to sort it out. They probably issue a lot of AOR daily and such minor errors are bound to happen. Probably someone was having a sip of coffee and their eyes rolled at the wrong spot on the application :)

Did her name changed after PR or her name on the application is the same as per her PR documents?

1. More than likely they are using the name that is on the passport that was submitted. If eventually you want the COPR and the PR in her married name, she will need a passport in her married name.

Her PR reflects her married name, and has so from the start. Even her first passport was issued on her married name, so this is why it is slightly disconcerting to receive the email addressed to her maiden name.

That's great to hear - I think the best course of action remains to contact them and advise them regardless.
