Hello, I’ve recently received my COPR after applying for PR through Express Entry a few months back, but I’ve realized that I made a mistake when filling my mother’s name, to be precise, I added one of her given names to her surname field.
You see, in my country of origin it’s normal to have multiple surnames, and in my ID card, which I used to support my application, my parents’ full names are present but without any separation between first and last names.
In my infinite wisdom, I figured that my mother’s first name was just her literal first name, and all names after were just her surnames.
Let’s say her name is Joana Maria Antunes Costa, I entered her first name as “Joana” and last name as “Maria Antunes Costa”, when in actuality, according to my birth certificate, her first name is “Joana Maria” and her last name is “Antunes Costa”.
Obviously, this wasn’t intentional, and I didn’t do this to gain any advantage, I was just thick headed.
I’ve already filed a webform (only when I noticed the error which was after approval) and I even added my birth certificate containing my parents’ names split into first and last names to prove this.
I did this to show good faith and that I wasn’t trying to mislead anyone, which is the truth.
It’s been around two months now and I haven’t gotten a response from IRCC (other than an automated email reply), so I’m going to assume this wasn’t a problem and land before my COPR expires.
I’m writing this to see if anyone has a similar experience and knows if this could be an issue.
