Here's all my info if anyone is keeping track:

AOR- January 26, 2016
BCG "In Progress": June 28
"Ready for Visa" e-mail: July 18, 2016
Copy of passport sent: July 18, 2016
Received at CPC Ottawa: July 19, 2016
Application approved (on CIC): July 22, 2016

I just check my tracker and it was activated yesterday (July 21 - so a day before my profile was updated). The envelope arrived to Calgary this morning around 7a.m. and is now being processed so hopefully I get it today. It would be lovely if I find it waiting for me when I get home. The week started on a high note, it would be nice if it ended the same way.

I like that it took them two days to process it. ;D

yes you can apply for open work permit. they will issue you 1 year of extension for your current work permit..i would suggest to apply 1 week before the expiration of your current work permit. it normally takes around 20-25 days for approval of work permit extension.

Thanks for the reply. My employer is gonna shut down the business by September. So was thinking to apply for BOWP right away so that i can get open work permit and can work somewhere else.

Through GCMS notes, most inland applications are sent to Ottawa, a few may be sent to their home country

Just out of curiosity, how does one know what their visa office is?

Just a follow up. I just got off the phone with CIC (the agent was very polite), and, as I feared, I was told that since my application is being processed in Singapore, I will have to contact them. But the Singapore Office has, apparently been in a comatose state for a quite while now ... How luck am I!

They will tell you the status of application even though it is not with them. The agent when i called told me that my BG is in progress with ongoing security checks. My app is NDVO though. But the agent in ottawa gave me this info.

How long did it take you to contact them? I have been calling like 20 times on the loop and getting the same "we are currently experiencing a high volume of calls"

Could you share the number you were trying please? I assume you are calling from outside Canada right?
