+1(514) 937-9445 or Toll-free (Canada & US) +1 (888) 947-9445
I am calling +1 613 944 4000 and then 1,1,1,3,1 if I am not mistaken.

But as soon as the call is transferred to CIC it says "they receive too many calls" and the call jusy drops after that.

By the way did you manage to get any info though?

The number is correct. Once you are being transferred to CIC don't hang up after you hear "we are currently experiencing a high volume of calls" remain on the line and some instructions will follow. After you hear them you gotta end up with the sequence of these numbers "1111131" and at the end you will be given the approximate estimate of waiting time (mine was 18 minutes). If I am not mistaken, nothing is charged for the waiting so you should be OK. I was told that currently my background, in particular the clearance, is being checked and that my file is not transferred to the local visa office. As I have heard that the background check processing times are not under the control of CIC I did not ask how much longer it would take. Although, you can ask when to expect some news or whether everything is OK with your application but I personally believe that cases with issues are highly unlikely to reach the background check stage if the problem itself is not in the background ;D.

Hope you will hear some good news. Best of luck!

Try calling around 8am EST , the agents usually are sweet enough to give you an update during the start of their day.

Exactly same place as you are.. 19th Jan AOR and BGC on 28 June... And waiting since then... Though I got through CIC and they said that 6 months is just an approx duration... It sometimes might take longer..I was told it was in process and nothing to worry.

I know it will come soon now... But Im so anxious :(

Mine too stuck at not needed. Visa office I am assuming its Ottawa. Never ordered gcm notes so not sure. Though the agent said nothing about NDVO being my office, so that more or less hints to Ottawa.

My case is pretty much the same as yours. I spoke to IRCC call centre agent Friday and they said external agencies are conducting criminality / security checks. Other than that, everything seems to be on track. The agent also confirmed receipt of RPRF.
I have decided to stop thinking about PPR for another 2 weeks. I know it's hard but it'll happen if it has to happen.
Good luck!

so do you have any of those in your background, I mean military or police service? Or simply you were asked randomly?

I would say not much to worry about, for you. Ottawa is very active these days since the invitations have gone down.

On the other hand singapore VO is always slow. Imagine getting ppr in 8-10 months.

As for NDVO, The number of student visa applications they are getting this time around due to uncertainty about U.S are too damn high. I assume that is the reason for delay.
