Hi there, the intent of OWP holder should be to support the student throughout the program duration. If you book a return ticket then the border services might think your travel is discretionary. That's my understanding based upon the IRCC updates.
My intention is to ask about the return ticket after the course length ( not immediately). Thanks bro for your response.

Is that rule still in place? what if I already started my uni program in September and I have a house to quarantine in because we lived in Canada for 7 years. My courses are online but i don't that matters anymore since the new rule
Your study permit dates from September.

Travelling soon. Will update as soon as possible. Nervous about everything especially bc I have online classes (although that is not an aspect considering your eligibility to enter Canada anymore).
Quarantine is set up and all documents already ready and filled out ArriveCan. Should be good to go. We'll see! Will defs update as soon as I have (hopefully) crossed the border or not!

That'll be very helpful! Hope everything goes smoothly. Good luck!

Hi everyone,
I and my husband are planning to travel in mid of December, with OWP & study permit respectively.
As I am travelling with OWP do I need to book return flight to show at the immigration? Kindly please help me to understand
I wouldn't say so. Just bring the diplomas if an officer might want to see them for OWP and the travel exception letter. Also, make sure you have health coverage

Good luck to you! I'm also traveling in a little more than a week. When are you flying out, if you don't mind me asking? What food did you bring in a luggage to last for the self-isolation duration?

Hi guys, i just got to Vancouver and the process was very smooth. The officer only asked for my passport and letter of introduction and when I was giving him my other documents he said no need. I completed the ArriveCAN form and that was about it. I waited 5 mins and he came out with my student permit and he didn’t look at any other letter or proof of funds. Hope this helps. Btw my classes were online as well

Thanks so much :) what transport did you take to get to your self-isolation place?

Nope, dw I wasn’t the only lucky one, there were many other students like me and none of us had any problem. They didn’t even carry out temperature checks lol
How did you plan to show your quarantine plan since you were staying with family? (Although they did not ask you)

I submitted the plan to my college, they accepted it and gave a letter saying my quarantine plan is approved, I also showed my quarantine plan through ArriveCAN
