Hey,

I also got CV requested and I got my applications approved last month.

Here is my timeline:

2016-10-06: Application received by CIC
2017-01-03: AOR
2017-12-29: Medical exam required
2018-01-04: Medical results sent
2018-01-10: Medical exam passed
2018-03-07: detailed CV requested by CIC
2018-06-05: SS started
2019-02-06: PPR
2019-02-08: Passport received by CIC
2019-02-15: Application approved
2019-02-22: Passport returned by CIC
2019-02-25: PR status validated.

From the timeline, you can see that it took about 11 months to get PPR after I got CV requested by CIC and they spent about 8 months doing SS... Good luck to anyone who also got CV requested...
congrats!

First of all, congrats!
It is strange though, they started SS 3 months after CV request...Gees...what were they doing with all those time? I thought they would immediately start SS after receiving the CV.

Edit: Solved, thanks all!

Hi @aasaf ,

If you could help out on this I would be so grateful, I haven't been able to find a solid answer on this yet, and it's the only thing I still need to figure out before submitting. I am in a similar position to @sdjkd .

I'm ready to submit my e-apr for CEC Inland, having filled in and uploaded everything except for one employment record. For the job in question, I claimed 1 yr 10 mths of FSWE in my EE profile. However, on an old resume that I submitted to IRCC as part of my 2017 Work Permit application, I claimed nearly 5 years for that job title, because I merged all of my time at that employer (multiple positions) into the one entry on the resume. Here is the word-for-word from the LoE that I am thinking of attaching... does this sound good? Would you change anything? Or is it not even worth mentioning it at all to avoid unnecessary scrutiny? Do you think the officer would even cross check with the old CV?

"Attachment (3), the CV submitted with my Work Permit application in 2017, lists my Retail Store Manager employment period as July 2009 to June 2014. Please note that in writing this CV my intention was simply to provide a brief description of my history. I estimated dates and merged multiple periods of employment with the same company into one in an attempt to fit everything onto one page for readability. I didn’t consider that the CV would be used for any reason other than to provide a brief overview, nor did I intend to profit in any way by merging the entries.

To clarify, between July 2009 and June 2014, I was employed both as a Store Manager and as a Retail Attendant in numerous locations around the city of CITY, as follows;
o Retail Attendant 2013-11-21 to 2014-05-18
o Retail Store Manager 2012-01-18 to 2013-11-20
o Retail Attendant 2010-12-02 to 2012-01-17
o Retail Attendant 2009-07-01 to 2010-09-21

As shown in attachment (1), [VOE] I am claiming Foreign Skilled Work Experience as a Retail Store Manager strictly for the period between January 18th, 2012 and November 20th, 2013."

Do you think I should attach this VOE, or not mention it at all? Thanks for any advice that you may be able to give, and thanks as well for the time you all dedicate to this forum!

Hi,
I think, the officer is more stringent about the work experience that you have claimed points on them, because you have to prove your claims for the area you have received points. And, the rest of personal history is used for background check purposes. As other members have shared their taught, slight differences are acceptable and we usually try to promote our experience and generalize our positions and responsibilities in our CV for the sake of coherence. It is for the best to mention your work history and personal history as accurate as possible. Moreover, since the permanent residence application needs more details, it is natural that we provide detailed information to CIC, which is more accurate and NOT conflicting with the past claims.
And about writing a LOE, it really depend on you, because some might say it just rises more questions for them and in your case you are not trying to claim a higher position in your work experience than your past claim (which is usually the case) and in fact it is the opposite.

Hi @nrpw33

I think this is subjective. If I were you, however, I would explain it in my LOE, though I think it is not a big deal.

You have a good reason why you previously submitted an inaccurate CV. Just explain it, but don't show you're sorry. I found your explanation pretty good, but I think you could revise the following sentence (or even remove it). [I think it shows that you did something wrong! Again, this is subjective]

"I didn’t consider that the CV would be used for any reason other than to provide a brief overview, nor did I intend to profit in any way by merging the entries."

I am from Iran. 28 years old now and have lived in Canada since I was 16 and never visited Iran after coming here. Seems odd to me to do extra security checks but I guess being born in Iran makes me extra special :D
