Does anyone tried to live with a Canadian Family? (Homestay) First time ko po kasi if ever. Thanks. :)
I know someone in FB group ,#studypermit, she found a Filipino family where she can stay in a cheaper price since food is included in her monthly fee. Maybe you can also post their :)

HELLO EVERYONE,
I WAS IN THIS FORUM A YEAR AGO. I WAS STILL IN PNAS BACK THEN. BUT I WAS GRANTED A VISITOR VISA HERE IN CANADA LAST MAY 2016 SO I AM CURRENTLY STAYING HERE IN TORONTO. AS FAR AS I COULD REMEMBER I WAS ASKING YOU GUYS ABOUT HOW TO STUDY IN CANADA. I MIGHT SHARE SOME OF MY EXPERIENCES HERE AS A TOURIST TO THOSE WHO ARE WILLING TO ASK. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY I AM HERE TO REVEAL TO YOU GUYS THAT STUDYING HERE IN CANADA AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT IS REALLY EXPENSIVE. I WENT TO SOME OF THE SO-CALLED CHEAP COLLEGES HERE LIKE CDI, ANDERSON, TRIOS.. AND ANY COURSE THAT IVE INQUIRED, ITLL COST ME AROUND 20K CANADIAN DOLLARS TO ENROLL. SO FOR ME, ITS REALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THAT AMOUNT. SO IM ASKING ANYONE WHOS BEEN HERE OR IS CURRENTLY HERE TO PLEASE ADVICE ME BECAUSE FOR NOW I WANNA EXPLORE OTHER OPTIONS POSSIBLE JUST TO PROLONG MY STAY HERE.
HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU GUYS...

Yeah, that's why going to Canada as an international student is not a joke. Very expensive but good investment naman daw as long as you make your whole stay worth it! :) Kailangan madami ka talagang learnings para hindi din sayang ung pera so choosing a right school for your desired course/program is really important too! :)

I'm still here in the Philippines so I can't share anything yet. Hope anyone in this forum who's already in Canada can help you :)

Hi guys. Thanks sa lahat ng mga nagrereply sa mga post ko. :) This is it. I only have 5 days left in the PH and medyo nagsisink in na sakin ung mga nangyyari hehe. I'm worried sa mga mangyayari kasi Canadian life is different from ours. I know na macuculture shock talaga ako sa mga first months kaya kakayanin ko to. Reading all your post about your success and enjoyment in Canada makes me feel okay at some point. Good luck sa mga mag apply and sa ating mga magstart ngayong Sept 2016 intake. God bless us all. :)

sorry, I don't know what options you have ... either you convert your tourist visa to a student visa or something else. For other types of visa, you'll get a better idea in other forums (PNP? Work Visa? FSW?)

Hi, upon port of entry. ok lang ba na magdala din ng bank cert? Ung pinasa sa embassy? Kaso sobra sobra sa 10K CAD un. Pero nsa bank cert lang naman un. Pero ung dalang cash on hand is less than 10k naman. Thanks.

Not really required. As I said they won't usually check kasi private property mo rin yan. Unless someone is reeeaaaally suspicious looking

no problem, it's only a document, not legal tender.

Nutshell, ikaw din ba yung nutshell sa Pinoyexchange forum?

Same here. I'm on a tourist visa and I'm in the process of applying for a atudent permit. I think this is possible kasi nakapag-consult na ako sa lawyer. Kailangan lang talaga mag-exit (pag naapprove na visa)
Hi!!!! Yup ako din yun. :D

Nag-submit ka na ng application mo? San location mo here?

Kelangan ba talaga mag-exit? May nagsabi naman sakin ndi na daw kelangan mag-exit basta makakuha ng study permit okay na daw ituloy tuloy ang stay here.

Ok lang text or whatsapp tayo usap?

Hello, aldousclark!

Not sure about your concern about opening the application because I applied through a consultant/agency so they prepared the application forms for me.
But for the SOP, here are the mandatories:

1.Why Canada
2.Why the chosen school
3.Why that course
4.How it will help you advance your career here in the Philippines
4.Relate your course to your previous academic background and work experience
5.Mention who will fund your studies
6.Show strong ties with your home country (basically give a strong reason as to why you will be coming back to your home country at the end of your course).

These are the basic points that you should cover but you can of course add any that you think will help your application.

Ideally, the SOP should not exceed two pages. Aim for one and a half ;)
Hope this helps!
Hello :D. First an introduction: My name is Gattaca (forum handle,) 35 years old and my family runs a medium sized family business here in manila. Even though the enterprise is successful (i.e. making money) my heart is not into it and i'd rather work in the technical field. My dream is to be an airplane maintenance technician and move to canada for good. I am married (but the marriage is all but annulled) have one kid.

From my one day worth of research, the school that looks to have the program i'm aiming for is BCIT (in BC, 16 months) or algonquin (in ontario, 24 months program.)

Well of course, first i should get an LOA (from both schools or just one?) and then submit my papers to VFS. I'm concerned about #6 in the quoted message above. My plan is to get my student permit so i can eventually be a permanent resident

Hindi po ba may PGWPP? (post graduate work permit program) which helps graduates qualify for permanent residence? it's a 2 year max sa pagkaka alam ko. Express entry na to for immigration. I don't want to lie on the paper to be honest. Although my family is here i don't have strong ties apart from that (altho i might bring my son to canada when he comes of age.)

How did you guys wrote your SOP then? Much thanks and will wait for your reply. I'm backreading so much atm! =) And i'll chronicle my journey on this forum too like the rest of you did ^_^.
