Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

I need help ulit!

I am getting ready to apply for my student permit for January 2015 term. When I checked my passport, it is expiring in October 2015 So I renewed my passport kahapon hoping to get it through express processing (2 weeks) kaya lang when I got there, the minimum time to get the renewed passport is in 6 weeks. So that means I will get the new passport end of September

They did not punch a hole in my old passport, meaning I can still use it until I get the new one.

So my questions are these:

a) Is it okay to apply for my student permit with my old passport?
b) If I decide to wait for the new passport, is it enough time to apply for January 2015?

Hope there are members here who have had a similar experience.

a) You can't apply with a passport that has a validity of less than a year. Your application could get refused if you push through with that.
b) A friend of mine applied in late October last year (2013). She got her visa by the end of December. She landed in Montreal on time for the Winter term.

Hello I just received an email from VFS saying that my application has been processed at their office on Aug 15 2014. I guess they already received my passport. However, I tried accessing the tracking number that they gave me but it appears that the codes are invalid? Anyone experienced this? and what does email mean?

20-digits. Make sure your birth date (especially the year - this part got me quite a few times) is correct.

We would like to inform you that your application has been processed in our office on 15 Aug 2014
You can track the status of your application through our website mentioned below using your tracking number.

http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada

Question: When exactly did you apply? Were you able to successfully track your application before? If you applied only yesterday, or today, it will take a while for the system to get updated.

Are u a pinoy? I am also applying my child we are done na for our medical exam last Aug. 4 and okay naman ung tests as per the physicians and nurses at St. Lukes Global, 2 weeks from now antay nalang kami ng next step hopefully passport request na..

Hello, I also got this msg after ko binigay ang passport. I guess it means na nareceive na nla ang passport for processing. They said na it will take 3-5working days bfore you can get your passport back..

Hello to everyone! After nerve-wrecking wait..God provided a smile on my SP app& my husband's WP application! We received our stamped passports with letter early this week! Thank you Lord talaga! & THANK YOU so much for all who contributed & continue to contribute to this very helpful forum! We learned a lot here and applied on our own online (since we are province-based & we are really keeping funds intact for this).
