Hello guys,I finally send my application last week but now my wife is worried because she thinks we send old forms do any of you knows if the updated the forms?? :'(
If you/she did indeed submit old forms it will delay the processing of you application as they will surely ask you for the correct forms. You need to analyze if indeed you sent the old forms and then resubmit the correct forms. The CIC website will have the correct version of the required forms. Each form has a version date in the bottom left corner of the page.

It would be a good idea to call CIC Mississauga to ask how to submit the updated forms. They may suggest waiting until you are asked for them as you don't yet have a UCI number (Unique Client Identifier) or file number and it "may" be hard to associate the new documents to your original application by name only.

CIC Miss contact phone numbers;

Main; 1-888-242-2100
other; 1-888-576-8502
From outside Canada; 001-613-944-4000

Navigate to the "address change" menu then press "0" to speak to an operator, then explain your situation.

Good luck and Speedy Processing!

ps If you would like to be added to the Mexico VO timeline spreadsheet to track your application progress against others please let me know here and we can get you added.

Hey everyone
HELLLPPPPP….… With all this movement in the visitor visa section with immigration Canada it has really got me thinking. My husband and I applied almost 8 months ago and we are still waiting to hear from Mexico. I’m kind of torn between whether or not to apply for a visitor visa, but seeing all the visitor visa really makes me want to try. My husbands passport expires in less than 6 months so i’m wondering if they could refuse us based on that alone. Is it even worth trying? My husband would only be able to travel here for 2 weeks because of his work schedule, it’s not like we are trying to get him to Canada and wait for news from immigration. I have full intentions to sending him back home. Like everyone else, we just want to spend christmas together and have him finally meet some extended family and friends. If you were in my shoes would you even bothering trying? This whole passport issue and the fact that it expires in a few months really worries me even when it comes to our PR application.

I say take a shot!!
I debated for a few weeks before we finally applied, but in the end I figured that we had nothing to lose and to our surprise he was approved. Write a very detailed letter with your plans if he were to visit. I don't think the fact his passport will expire in 6 months will effect their decision. Maybe it will help since he will have to return before the passport wxpires?

Definitely you can/should try! However, your hubby should renew his passport first. There is no point getting multi-entry TRV when his passport will expire in 6 months as the visa is tied to the expiry of his passport.

Best he renew his passport for 10 years if he can, notify CIC of the new passport, then apply for a Canada visitor visa. Good chance he will get one if he has strong ties back to DR and you guys are in the process of applying for PR.

The passport expiry shouldn't worry you with respect to the PR application. It's pretty normal, but he does need to renew it in either case...

SB414 you make a very good point. My plan was to provide a plane ticket and hope that would convince them. I guess I'm holding onto hope that we will receive the PPR soon.
Do you know when a Dominican can renew their passport?

When my husband and I originally applied for PR we looked into renewing his passport at that time but they wouldn't allow it unless we claimed it was lost or stolen and had a police report. Do you think in the eyes of CIC that it's fishy that we would update his passport now (keeping in mind that we would need to claim it lost or stolen) simply to have a 10 year multi entry visa ? Like SB414 said we could use that as a way to convince them that my husband will return. Like I said, I am totally overthinking everything and getting desperate. I just find myself in a corner and second guessing myself. We have applied twice before and been denied both times. However the last time we applied a year ago after we got married the visa officer was only concerned about his travel history. My husband has a good job and that it about it when it comes to ties to his home country. Lately it seems that CIC isn't overly concerned about the ties to Dominican because one girl applied and he boyfriend didn't have a job, assets, or bank account. Every case is totally different.

Thank you both for taking the time to respond. I really really appreciate your help. :D

Thank you!!! My husband decided to go to the government office today and they informed him that he is able to renew his passport now. So I got all worried for nothing. I will update CIC as soon as possible. We have decided to wait and try for a vv in the new year.

Immigration emailed telling us our passport is ready to be returned, HOWEVER, because we went with DHL it meant we had to go back and secure a "remote return". It was bit annoying. Either way, hubby went today and immigration was notified via email so hopefully tomorrow DHL in Mexico will pick up our package and send it off to Santo Domingo. We are happy everything is coming together. Once the passport comes, my husbands quitting his job so he can spend some time with the family and vacation with me before his big arrival to Canada. Should be good!
