Hi guys,
Ankara sent me an email that they are doing additional background checks on my husband. Its been 16 months since I got approved as his sponsor. Do you have any idea. How long this"additional background check" may take?
Thank you

Hello all,
Just wanted to share the status of my application to sponsor my wife who lives in Iran.

Sent the application in June 2015
Received file number in July 2015
Received an email from CIC saying my sponsorship got approved and the file has been sent to Ankara. Also, in the status of my wife's PR application it says medical received.
However, the status of my sponsorship application is still "in process". I had assumed that when you get approved for sponsorship and application file is transferred to Ankara, it means the sponsor's part is done and it only involves background check for the sponsored person.

Comments are welcome!

Hi

It should be changed to ''Decision made''. But I don't think it be an issue, you've received sponsor approval email and your application has been sent to Ankara.
It's my thought. :)

Hi everyone.

I have a question regarding the interview. My husband had an appointment for an interview at the embassy. Is there an interview for everyone or only few casses. Is it a bad sign ? What kinds of questions will they ask him ? it actually makes me nervous. And if everything goes well for the interview, will he get his visa right away or he'll have to go back again to the embassy.

Thanks for your help.. I really hope it's the last step.

There is nothing to afraid of . This is their regular process , if they are really satisfied with proofs you sent to them they usually waive your interwiev. But still everything fine they might have some extra questions all of these are normal.and about the visa normally they send you back and they mail you after interwiev because thay have some paperworks to do after that.and there is some questions might help you with that I saw these in the forum.

Hello to everyone, just few days ago my husband had an interview at an Ankara consulate, I was with him and was questioned too. Everything went well, the officer was pleasant but strict, we had lots of questions. If you know well your partner there nothing to worry, just relax, concentrate, be honest and try not to forget important dates, names and places. Our case was approved, just need to send updated medical and police report,
The only problem I had is a traveling from Toronto to Ankara, it was one crazy journey, Smiley I was denied to board the plane from Toronto because my passport was expiring in 5 month, and you need minimum 6 month valid passport in order to enter to Turkey, so I lost the ticket, had to make urgent passport which is ready within 24 hours and costs 270$.
While waiting my connecting flight from Istanbul to Ankara some one stole my bag with all my clothing, I was left with nothing Smiley I had no time to report it to police because of the connecting flight, in the airport no police, you have to take a taxi in order to get to police station and file a report. So I arrived around midnight to Ankara and next day we had an interview. My flight back to Toronto was on Oct.25, which I missed too... I know it's crazy, but I did... because the eurozone had changed the time one hour back, the cell-phones automatically changed too, plus I asked the hotel receptionist who speaks very little english and he told me "yes yes, its back 1 hour"(apparently only in Turkey time didn't changed)... my mistake, I never checked the time in airport's clock, didn't paid attention for the last call for boarding , just was relaxed having my coffee...So, I had to buy another ticket, the THIRD one , for the next day.... Finally I arrived to Toronto, and what? the bag with gifts my husband brought for me was ripped off, and some staff was lost.... Smiley))

Hi Georgina,

Omg this was hell of a story there ! We came back on the same day same time ! I was coming back to Montreal though ! If we knew we could've met !!! I know I had that same problem with the time change I woke up an hour late because my iPhone automatically changed. Almost missed my connecting flight to Istanbul. And then when I arrived in Istanbul my phone corrected the time and didn't notice so I still was adding 1h to it. It was just so confusing.

I wanted to go to the interview with him but I purchased a plane ticket because I had 10 days off at school. And I received the ambassy's email for an interview 1 day before my flight telling me the appointment will be 2 weeks after I leave turkey. I guess it wasn't meant to be. He'll be able to handle it alone.

And can you tell me how long after the interview did you get the approval ? And how long does it take to get the visa after this ? Is it still very long ? So tired of waiting !!!!

Thanks for the help!!

Hi everyone,
We have received an email from Ankara Immigration for my wife to send her passport and photos for landing visa issuance. It has been indicated in the email that she can submit her passport either:
1. In person
2. Through an authorized representative

So I was wondering since she is Iranian must she attend the visa office herself because of biometrics (fingerprints)? Or NO the permanent residency visa does NOT require biometrics and someone else can take the passports for her? like these agencies which do such stuff.

Thanks
