I have recently received a notice to send my passport to Buffalo to get it stamped. It is due in few days which is not possible to make for me. What are the consequences, if any, to send my passport after the deadline? If there are no consequences, what is the limit date in which I must send my passport?

You will probably get a letter stating that if we don't receive your passport in X days, we will consider that you are no longer interested in emigrating and close your file. Send them a case specific email, and ask for an extension.
