Hi guys, my name is Tricia and my hubby was denied in December on the grounds of our marriage not being real. I got the refusal letter in January, appeal it in January. They sent me a letter in February acknowledging the appeal. Now I'm just waiting for the next step. My question is can you explain to me what the hearing was like and things that I should look out for?

You and your hubby should try to know everything about each other and also depends on why they denied your hubby, you should try to provide enough evidence proving them wrong.

For example if they denied him because they think your relationship is not genuine, you need to prove that it is real by showing them that you are going to spend time with your hubby, you need to show them all of your call and chat records...phone bills, skype, whatsapp, bbm etc. In the mean time you are waiting for your hearing date, you should try to visit your spouse as much as possible, talk, text throughout the day, let your messages show that you are involved in one another's life, write letters, send cards, when you visit your spouse go to different places, take lots of pictures every time you go out and when you are at home, the more the better.

We did all of that in the original application. 32 pages of skype conversation, western union receipts where he sent me money and I sent him money, 150 photos, digicel credits, post cards, records of me send him barrels, travel itineraries of me going to see him every 6 months. When he had his interview the interviewer asked him if he had ever been to Canada. My husband replied no and then he said don't worry you will love it there. But lo and behold we got a denial letter. There is 19 years difference between hubby and I. Him being older.

For those who already got their passport request or submitted to VFS, what is the size of the photo? Is it passport size? I knew this was posted before. By the way i will probably be asked to submit my passport to VFS Abu Dhabi (where i`m now) or VFS(Manila, Philippines), my processing office?

Yes but Canadian passport size you can go to cic website for the size

OMg...ur story is exactl like mine...its creeping me out...everything u said is same..

I wonder if we all had the same VO. There was another person on this forum as well and from what her husband told my husband about the appearance of that VO it seems like the same woman. She was truly unfair and prejudiced. It is amazing that somebody like that has this job paid for by our tax money.

The VO' s are all the same way, they asking questions and putting people's answers their own way. The trying to force things on you. The are very manipulative.

ADR was refused in April 2017 ...how long do u think it's gonna take for full heari

It depends, largely on which city the sponsor lives in, as well as the current case load for that area. Generally, it's been about 2-3 years from when you first sent in the Notice of Appeal. Vancouver is usually much faster than the other cities.

When you say that ADR was refused, did you mean that you had an ADR conference and was not successful, or that they denied you ADR?

I failed my ADR May 13, 2016. I had my Full Hearing December 7, 2016. This is in Calgary, Alberta.

I was so confident about our case after reading the refusal letter, Blue book, reading similar cases in Canlii. It was my partner who engaged the service of a lawyer because he said, it is our life that is on the line, we have to do whatever we can. Our lawyer cost 3000 dollars. He always answers our emails, phoned me several times before our hearing. And he still keep in touch with us. Money well spent.

Me and my husband did the inland spousal sponsorship we started december 15,2015 and my husband had his landing interview on April 28 2017 at CIC Etobicoke we used a representative. But I hear appeals can cost 3k and up

My lawyer cost me $4200.
I know can be over 10k but my husband already did his landing at CIC Etobicoke we had no appeal and no red flags cause he's from a visa exempt country
