Visa Office......
Paris
I have received an email from the visa office handling our application that says the following:

The documents and/or information indicated below are required to complete your application:
your document IMM5669 Schedule A, question 12, has missing information. Kindly provide your addresses from [DATE A] to [DATE B]

When I sent the application I made sure to include an additional sheet explaining that I'd been backpacking during that period and so I did not have a fixed address. What kind of information are they looking for here? Do they want the addresses of every single guest house / hotel I stayed in during that period??

They want you adress info. I don' t think they want hotels or anything like that. They want adresses that you have lived in the past 10 years.

Yes, but what I left the country where I used to live and travelled for a couple of years? Obviously when you are travelling / backpacking you don't have a permanent address.

Noone lives out of a backpack for months on end... do they? :P

I do. I know it's not common, but I work from my computer so I'm able to do that for years on end. I got rid of all my personal belongings before I started travelling, so I was not storing them anywhere. The only thing I had were bank statements going to a previous address, but neither I nor any relatives/acquaintances were living there at the time. I can give them that address, but in all honesty, that was not **my** address.

they just want the past 10 years history. Write everything whereever you were and staying for the past 10 years. Doesn't matter if its permanent or not

if bank(s) and other govt agencies have that address as the mailing address, then provide that address to the CIC. am sure you had an address for credit card, etc.

Yes, just help your case and provide them with the address which you consider in all honesty to be your "home address", even if you were on the road for most of the time. Everyone has ties to a place even if they are travelling for a long time.
Good luck.

what did you actually write in the answer to that question? did you tell them you were traveling, but had a permanent address in a specific location? If so, perhaps they need to see the actual locations where you traveled as well. I would think the country, city and name of place you stayed would be enough info. it's important to not have any breaks in dates. it may be best to provide an actual timeline of every time you changed locations, specifying your activity (traveling, working, etc) and status (visitor, resident, citizen, etc).

since you didn't have a fixed address, but still held a permanent address, then i think it's best to write a letter of explanation, and showing proof of your travel (bank statements, old intineraries/hotel reservations, etc). I would also include the fact you work remotely, so while you were traveling you also worked for xyz company and show some proof of that. perhaps they are just confused.
