Hey guys,

So our VO asked for additional documents along with an updated Schedule A form. Under question 6 it says

Have you ever... (If yes please provide details below)

c) Made previous claims for refugee protection in Canada or at a Canadian visa office abroad, in any other country or countries, or with the UNHCR (United Nations Commissioner for Refugees)

d) Been refused status, an immigrant or permanent resident visa, or visitor or temporary resident visa to Canada or any other country?

A little background information. My husband holds and Iraqi passport but was born in Syria, he moved to Amman so we could get married and live with each other while our file was in process. We found that Amman was too expensive so we moved to Turkey. Iraqis have a 90 days visitor visa in Turkey. after 90 days we received an additional 30 days. In that time we tried to apply for a PR card and the wait time was over 18 months and in that time you have no status. My husband was scared of being in a country with no status so he applied at the UNHCR. At the UNHCR he didnt have initial interview when we decided that we would move back to Amman because there he would at least be able to get a resident card because he was married to a Jordanian. (At this time it would have been 9 months that we were living in Turkey) Before we left he made sure to go back to the UNHCR and close his file. They asked him to sign a consent for that he will no longer be recognized by the UNHCR and thats it. He never mentioned at the UNHCR that we wanted to go to Canada because he didnt even go through step one yet.

Would I just right that under where they details? Or is it not necessary since he isnt even recognized at the UNHCR anymore?

Also we applied for a TRV twice while his application was in process from advice from a consular at the embassy here in Amman. Im obviously going to tell them about this, but what kind of information should I include? Should I attach our UCI # and the letter saying why they refused us?

Am I over thinking this? probably. haha. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi

Yes, you must mention it. It doesn't matter that he wasn't recognized; he made the claim and that is what is being asked. A short explanation is fine.

You don't need to include anything. They will be able to see the refusals in the system. You just need to answer "Yes".
