Yes, he needs to complete the forms since he's the person being sponsored.

It may help to go through http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp as you complete the principal applicant's forms (the person being sponsored) and http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp as you complete the sponsor's documents as they have instructions for each question on the form from the family class perspective to clarify who/how to fill them out and who to include as dependants.

ETA: You don't need to complete several forms on your own because this is a family class application and you are Canadian already. They state 'if applicable' because several forms are standardized across applications and in other cases, such as skilled workers since neither spouse is Canadian and therefore both need to complete several forms from their own perspective.

Thank You, we did it right then!. I just wanted to make sure I didnt have to fill them out for me as well. Thanks Again!

What do you mean by 'additional dependents form'? Which IMM form are you referring too?

FS

For IMM0008 (not IMM0008DEP), we did not click the 'add dependents' when we filled that form. It was our understanding that since it is only my wife being sponsored, this is not applicable. My son and I are already Canadian, so we are pretty sure we don't add our names to the IMM0008 form. Please, this has to be right. I checked and double checked...

Right. My understanding is correct. For IMM0008 (not the DEP one), you DO NOT click the 'add dependents' button if your dependents (your children) are Canadian citizens. Since they are already Canadian citizens, you are not sponsoring them as your dependents and they DO NOT get added to the application! So I'm not sure why OhCanadiana has posted the opposite information.

How many children do you have? If they are all Canadian, DO NOT click the 'add dependents' button for IMM0008, and you certainly would not need to fill out IMM0008DEP!

If you are only sponsoring your husband, you simply fill the form and SKIP the 'add dependents' button for IMM0008. To add a dependent would mean they are also being sponsored for permanent residence to Canada. Since you and your children are already Canadian citizens...you get the point.

Hope this clears this up.

And for future reference, I think it is important to include the form numbers when you ask questions. When I first saw the title of your thread, I assumed you were talking about IMM5406 (Additional Family Information). I'm guessing that OhCanadiana was also confused, because he has since edited his original response. It's important to ensure that you word your question in such a way so as to avoid ANY confusion, because as we all know, this is confusing enough, so we need to make everything very clear so that the information provided is accurate.

P.S. I called the call center twice and spoke to two different agents and both confirmed my understanding.

You filled your IMM0008 form correctly, Fencesitter :)
As it states on the IMM0008 form directly:
"Dependents
You must provide the following details about each of your family members, whether they will be accompanying you to Canada or not. You must include your spouse or common law partner, if applicable, and all of your dependent children, and those of your spouse or common-law partner, who are not already permanent residents or citizens of Canada"
Source: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM0008ENU_2D.pdf

In contrast for IMM5406,
"Section B

Write the personal details for your children. It is very important that you list all of your children (even if they are already permanent residents or citizens of Canada). "
Source: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp

Both of these forms are filled in by the principal applicant (the spouse being sponsored)

To reiterate what I said above, there are very detailed instructions for each question included in the guides. I provided a couple of links above and in another post of the OP's, I provided the link to the the visa office specific forms. For ease of reference, all the forms and instructions for outland applicants are linked off of http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

ETA: Fencesitter - just saw the post you wrote ... hope that this gives you added peace of mind. I prefer to rely on the instructions that are published :)

Yes, I feel better today. It would suck to catch a major mistake after sending the applications...that's why I was a tad bit concerned when I read your initial reply to the OP. Thanks for clarifying, and hope this helps others with the same question.
