maybe some more background to get some feedback such as age of minor, study intentions, if relatives or family with PR in Canada or work/stuidy permit. Not just a matter of a minor attending a school and a parent tagging along as generally a parent must qualify for a study or work permit in own right first or a minor would be looked after by a custodian already residing in Canada. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-minors.asp

Child is in elementary school, and the reason is higher standard of education compared to country of origin. The father works and stays in country of origin and will be the one sponsoring(fees, flights to and fro during school breaks, accommodation and all other expenses. I read of the possibility of the accompanying parent being able to stay with the child on a trv as the custodian which can be allowed for the duration of study for elementary school which the visa is given for only 1 year and needs also to be renewed. Couldn't find any other provision that shows the I admissibility of the accompanying parent as the custodian living with the child. Whole family has very good travel history and immigration record for other countries. I would just like clarification if I'm wrong regarding what I read. Thank you for your response

It's really not possible. The parent can apply for a TRV which will allow them to visit Canada for a short period of time. However the TRV won't let the parent live in Canada or work in Canada while the child attends school. If you want the child to come to Canada, you'll need to find a someone who is already authorized to live in Canada to act as a custodian. The parent should forget about being able to stay in Canada with your child while he/she attends elementary school. It's not going to happen.
