According to the article, nearly 2.9 Million temporary residents will expire in 2025 and 2026.
This news is very important for current asylum claimants who claimed in 2023, 2024. Our cases might take longer. Because I think current students who will be expiring in 2026 or for those who are in PGWP expiring in 2026 might claim or file for asylum in Canada this year 2026 or last year 2025. It will create massive pain for real refugees from war torn countries who claimed in 2023 and 2024.
And, I dont see any other major changes for refugee and aslyum claim laws. Does anyone seen? I hope IRCC will implement AI or AI integration to prioritize people from war torn countries and reject automatically for people who claim false asylums. I have seen students or who are already in Canada for many years just claim for asylum LOL. And I seen people who are from very peaceful countries can claim asylum. I have seen people who claim fake aslyums and abusing benefits like free food while they are driving Mercedes. I have seen people who pretends to be LGBTQ+ society and claim for asylum. It doesn't make any sense to me! Current system is not fair. Real refugees from war torn countries are dying to meet with their family abroad because they cant get hearing and apply for travel document.
