The mandamus process just started and will not go to the hearing anyway...
Probably just made an officer have a look, e-mail CSIS and after 2 years, CSIS was pretty much done finding absolutely nothing. Or maybe it was in the cards to be done soon anyway.
It's a good sign for mid 2023 applicants regardless of whether they went the federal court way or not.
At least, fingers crossed for a July applicant I know who's in the same boat...

Agree with you. That’s why I started mandamus step 1 and I didn’t follow up after. I’m also July 2023 and I feel we are close to end.

Yeah, it's a lot of money (or a lot of work for people representing themselves?) for something that is probably getting close anyway.

Hello everyone, what does your paper file location in ATIP notes says, mine says "Grant Clearance Pending"
Also in the Notes section after the events, do you have any text note saying "Security update requested or CMB update requested"? Please share your date of that TEXT NOTE as well. it helps everyone to see which AOR months they are working on. thanks

My wife received gcms notes yesterday and it also says same status as you-“Grant clearance pending” in physical file location. However, in the notes, card 4 says citizenship is granted. The date on that note is march 25 which day LPP completed. But the tracker still says BG in progress and oath bot started.
None if the dates or notes indicate security update requested. Did you get oath?

All of the above comments make sense. Here is my mandamus story.

I filed for the judicial review on my own at 16 month mark (Aug 2023 applicant stuck at BG/Security). Got the usual no decision letter. Spoke to a lawyer who advised to withdraw the review as 16 months is least likely to result positively. Also advised me to look at it again around 22 months mark. So I did and this time with a lawyer.

Filed my judicial review with the lawyer this time and again got the same no decision letter. Waited 3 weeks for any movement and now filed application record/affidavit 2 weeks ago. Waiting for IRCCs response and I have not seen any movement in my application. Its clear that IRCC is giving cold shoulders to Mandamus now for the reasons mentioned above. This may help anyone thinking of filing mandamus.

Never hated any other process in my life as much as this one.

So I had an update today. Background has turned green/complete on June 19. Prohibitions still pending.

Is there another long waiting period… we shall find out

Thanks but honestly I will keep my hopes in check for now. With IRCC, nothing is guaranteed.

Dates:
30 April - 1st step of mandamus filed
2 June - no decision letter from IRCC
12 June - 2nd step of mandamus filed
Awaiting to hear from DOJ
21 June - BG done

I did it by myself, but it seems the federal court rejected my submission.
