You can wait, but if you need your citizenship for any reason, a Mandamus is a very valid option for your case, especially you've been waiting for 2+ years.

I actually talked to a lawyer and she was being very honest with me that I can spend easily over 15k with her, but it may still be in this grind because the mandamus cases are backed up with the court and very few of them are moving. I thanked her for that and saving me money, but this is the brutal reality.
Yeah I have recently talked to a lawyer too and according to them:
It now takes about 4-6 months for a hearing to be given a date (scheduled), and then another 6-8 months for that hearing to actually take place.
Your best bet is that the Mandamus will trigger action without ever getting to that stage, but since the courts are so backed up IRCC is now less likely to action a case since the delay is so long they got enough time to essentially wait it out.
Then I think we really need to bring this to the attention of the media and the new minister.

I think the minister couldn't care less unless there's media and public scrutiny on this issue.
All that was reported on were just internal issues, there's nothing about how they respond to the applicants and other 3rd parties.
All of the above comments make sense. Here is my mandamus story.
I filed for the judicial review on my own at 16 month mark (Aug 2023 applicant stuck at BG/Security). Got the usual no decision letter. Spoke to a lawyer who advised to withdraw the review as 16 months is least likely to result positively. Also advised me to look at it again around 22 months mark. So I did and this time with a lawyer.
Filed my judicial review with the lawyer this time and again got the same no decision letter. Waited 3 weeks for any movement and now filed application record/affidavit 2 weeks ago. Waiting for IRCCs response and I have not seen any movement in my application. Its clear that IRCC is giving cold shoulders to Mandamus now for the reasons mentioned above. This may help anyone thinking of filing mandamus.
Never hated any other process in my life as much as this one.

Thanks for telling us about your case. It also made me glad that the lawyer I talked to was very honest with me and told me to just save my money.
I ditto to the hate against this process. It just makes no sense.
