I did the same thing, I'm current living in the USA with my husband and have no Canadian income. Since there is no set amount that you need to make to be a spouse sponsor, I didn't worry about it. I explained my transition plan to Canada and how I would support us with freelance projects, and also showed the balance of our Canadian bank account.

Thank you so much! We did the same as well. We tried to explain everything as clearly as possible. I have been looking at spreadsheets for previous applicants this year and it seems as though some PR`s are processed very quickly after SA. Hoping ours both are too!

What visa office will you be applying to?

Thanks for your very useful advice :)
I have another question (I Already booked an appointment with my lawyer to solve that but I'm anxious and worried!) My student visa it's gonna expire in April but I don't know if I should extend it before or after apply to the PR. I don't want CIC to refuse my visa.

I'm living with my husband in Alberta, we met here when I was under a student visa.

Thanks in advance!

What they meant about 'loose photos' is no photos should be on albums.

I have organized my photos by:

1. Printing the photos regularly on a photo paper. (because it is much practical than printing them all on our home printer)
2. Organized them in chronological order from the year that we meet until our latest photos in 2014.
3. Wrote the description and caption (People in the photos and their relationship to principal applicant/sponsor, date and place taken.) using MS-Word and then print

** You can print the photo in any size as long as the picture is clear. Photo paper is not actually a requirement but most of the people would rather spend printing them on a photo paper (via any photo center) rather than spending so much money on ink/toner on your home printer.

Hope this helps! :D

I send our application to the Case Processing Center in Mississauga, Ontario. I used the courier specific address to help speed things up.

Hi lorrein,

I'm from Edmonton, Alberta too!

So are you still staying here? If you can still apply and still have the requirements to have a student visa.. i suggest it would be much better for you to apply for an extension first before you pass your spousal sponsorship. Because the processing takes about 85 days now before they acknowledge and start processing your spousal application and another 17 months (based on your Visa Office, which i assumed is in Mexico?). With your student visa you will be able to spend time with your spouse while you wait for your spousal application.

I think its ok too. I read on here somewhere that there is still a back log from people sending in the out dated forms. I think there is still a chance it could be processed in under 60 days... :D

I've checked the November 2014 thread and some applications are now acknowledged and have started processing.. even though it's still indicated in cic that they are working on the October 2014 application.

So i guess you guys are right, the processing might go faster over the coming days!

Keeping the hopes high, goodluck to all of us! 8)

Hi! :) I'm still staying here in Canada with my hubby. We are thinking about *maybe* change my status to visitor because it's too expensive to study. Last year I studied 6 months and we spent a lot of money :( but as I mentioned I booked an appointment with a lawyer, because I really want to stay here while the process starts. Yes, my visa office it's Mexico they are in charge of the venezuelan applications.

Thanks for answering! nice to meet people that is under the same situation.

For venezuelan, i think you are not required to have a tourist visa but you can only stay up to 90 days. Another thing that you can look at is applying via Inland instead of outland because they are giving open work permit for spouses who applies inland.. the downside is your spouse application for permanent residence will take up to 2 years vs. 8-9 months in outland.

I just received confirmation that our application was received through Fed-Ex!!
It was delayed at the border 24 hours, but at least it went through.

Unfortunately I do need a visa to remain as a visitor. And I want to apply outland because I prefer to have my PR faster instead a work permit but a waiting of two years. I have been in Canada already for two years and really I don't want to be here for two years more with a limited legal status. And plus my mom was very sick last year, if I apply inland it's very risky to travel outside of Canada, if for any reason they don't let you in you have to start over again all the whole application
