Hi all,

My husband got his PR through The Federal Skilled Worker Scheme. Am I the one supposed to do the medicals or are we both to do the medicals again. He had already done medicals during his application process.

Processing time for your sponsorship approval will take about 81 days now according to http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/times/perm-fc.asp but it can change.
Then once you're approved to sponsor it will be sent out to the visa office and will be process depending on the indicated months on your VO (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp)

81 days + (months indicated depending on your VO)

Hi all! My husband just dropped off our application in the mail and we're so excited!

Soo... can anyone fill us in on what we might expect first? We have tracking on our packaging so we'll know when it arrives where it needs to be, but sort of communication should we be looking for?

Good luck all!

First step would be the sponosor approval, which according to cic is 81 days! :'( Then if approved as a sponsor it would be transfered to the appropriate visa office of where your husband is a permanent resident or citizen of, hopefully mine gets approved in 6 or 7 month as most outland u.s applicants, but who knows lol. Good Luck! :p

Hi serebeth,

As i have mentioned awhile ago, once CIC received your application..
(1) it will take them 81 days to acknowledge the receipt of it. (processing times can change)
You can check it on (http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/times/perm-fc.asp)
-AOR will be receipt via Email/Post mail

(2) If you are eligible to sponsor they will send you the sponsorship approval and send your application to the appropriate Visa Office who will process your paper depending on the citizenship of your spouse/child. Processing time depends on the VO (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp)

* Well based on the timelines I've checked it can take max of 3 months to be approved as sponsor and as fast as 1 month, depending on your luck.*

(3) The appropriate Visa Office can send another acknowledgement of receipt that they have your papers but some VO didn't send any of it too so it also depends on the VO/situation.
(3) They can ask for additional docs or medical (if you didn't send one)
(4) Passport Request

and then for the rest, only time can tell.. we just have to wait. you can also compare other timelines from last year just to give you an idea..

Good luck!!

Hello! Our application was received last Jan 8, 2015, under spousal app. :) I just checked on the latest update from CIC regarding sponsorship... And it's moved from 61 to 81 days! I hope it does not get longer and longer as the weeks go by :(

Any other Mexico City applicants out there?

Hi! We sent our outland application for PR in today! (Jan 15) If all goes well and I am approved to sponsor my husband then our application will be sent to the Mexico City Visa Office. :D (We are living in Santiago, Chile but as per the cic.gc.ca website I understand Mexico City will be processing our application.) I am new here and I apologize if I posted this in the wrong place.

PS Have you seen a recent link (2014) to the Mexico City visa processing times? I have seen a few spreadsheets including people using that visa office but was wondering if there is a thread of all Mexcio City PR`s. Thanks.

I'm hoping to be a January outland common-law applicant, but still waiting on my FBI clearance. Sent it off the second week of November. :p I have my medical exam tomorrow and everything else is ready to go!

Hi all,

Sorry to ask this question. Hope it doesnt sound stupid. Is there any place on the application form where it is stated that police checks and medicals must be done before the application is sent? If yes please what form is this? I am asking because my husband is planning to sponsor me this january and I am quite anxious, so I want to learn as much as I can before our application process starts.

Thanks

I would submit them upfront, that is if you do not want your app to be delayed.

Hello all. We received the option C printout on Thursday and couriered our application Friday the 16th. Today the Canada Post tracking says it's already in Mississauga to be delivered to the Case Processing Centre Monday the 19th! My nerves just kicked in knowing they will be receiving it on Monday.
