Good report and some key information. Thanks for sharing.

Just a calculation (mostly on assumption basis)
Total application received = 1200 (March 600 against 3 weeks and April 600 assuming 3 weeks after which they will stop receiving)
Incomplete/Fund Problem/documents missing etc @ 20% = 240 (1200X20%)
Remains = 960 (1200-240)
Weak Settlement Plan/Resume @ 20% = 192 (960X20%
Remained = 768 (960-192)
Probability of nomination if complete and good settlement plan = 20% (150/768)

So the situation is not as bad as it was thought to be 8). Cheer up guys! If your application is complete and have good settlement plan and resume, 1 among five will be selected ;D. An excellent settlement plan/resume will increase the probability a great deal :D :D.

very good statistic assumption :D. We need more humour like this on the forum, as NSOI is killing all with this psychological torture leaving all guessing everything :D...but its becoming a little fun...

From where did you assume nomination number against each NOC shall be equal? Nova Scotia may need more IT professionals than any other profession - so nominations against IT might be highest numbers.

Exactly nomination in each NOC may not be equal. Infact for some NOCs there will be very negligible Nomonation at all because there is no demand for the NOC or the applicants do not show convincing settlement plan. The reason I am saying there will be more IT applicantsbecause there are 5 NOCs for IT professional. Although the outlook of IT sector is good in Nova scotia but I guess they wont nominate more than 30 applicants . so the probability for People in IT becomes less compared to other NOCs

You also need to consider which type of people are active in internet and forums. Specially NOC code started with 3 and 4 are not very much active in forums but a large number of them applied.

How large? Out of 600 applications in March, at least 102 belongs to Forum Member (17%). There is only 2 NOC started with 4; so we can ignore it. With due respect about 3, FSW 2013 shows that they are too slow to apply. As they are not very active, chances are that many of them will also be informed about the program lately and they might not yet apply.

The main thing is that an individual has 20% chances of selection; but if you try to consider NOCwise, it might go up or down as it depends on whether there is any cap against a NOC (we don't know it), how large or small the cap of individual NOC's CAP shall be, and how many application against each NOC been submitted.

It cannot be. look at your google doc data (summarized for top 5 in below table). Highest application is against 1111 and 2147 (12% each and NOT 50%). Believe it, actual applications also should be at same proportion.

Top 5 nocs No of applications % of total
1111 19 12%
2147 19 12%
2173 14 9%
2132 13 8%
2171 12 8%

Well. We will have to keep another thing in mind. Federal program has only 24 Eligible occupation while NSNP has 43. So applicants who are only eligible for NS (19 occupations) will see a higher flow of applications than others.

Regarding the proof of language, the General Ielts is required for the next step after nomination - CIC.

In this step, the Academic Ielts will do just fine. Also they are open to other ways of proving your english level.

I am very curious to see on the website how the cap filling will evolve.
yes you r correct as earlier they mentioned that for NSNP application IELTS Academic will do so I am sure they will consider for nomination purpose and yes if you get nomination in the next stage for CIC you need IELTS GT. It is clearly metntioned " CIC does not accept IELTS Academic when processing applications for permanent residency". and not NSNP will not accept as for NSNP they have said earlier that IELTS AC or GTwill be considered.

I think, They will consider application as incomplete because of IELTS type...

IELTS Academic is only needed in Study Visa

Application are complete without ielts???...

according to application guide(Language Ability):

You may provide one or more of the following, showing that you meet CLB/NCLC Level 5:
 Copies of test results from one of the designated testing agencies.
 Educational transcripts, documents, employment history, references indicating English or French as the principal language of instruction or communication.

Please Comment.....

Correct but from 2nd April when they changed the RLMD guideline. However, if applicant can provide other documents from educational institution or from employer that mode of communication is English, it will be counted complete (page 5-RLMD guide). Again to be eligible, candidate must meet CLB5 (RLMD page 4)- in other words, IELTS is mandatory to show english proficiency :o.

To summarise:
So IELTS General is safest.
IELTS Academic accepted till 1st April
If provided other documents of english proficiency, it will be tough for them to assess whether it is equivalent to CLB5 - so it is risky and also confusing if IELTS is mandatory.

Hi my application receive date: 02/04/2014
Thank you for update. Your details are updated in tracking sheet

Hi I was going through the google doc and have worked out that most of the people that have applied have jobs that fall under "REGULATED" fields. If the field is regulated it becomes really difficult to get nominated unless one can really impress with their CVs and Settlement plans

TOP NOCs DESC AVG WORK EX PRE SCREENING RECEIVED REGULATED
1111 FINANCE/ACCOUNTANTS 7.8 0 YES
2147 COMPUTER/ECE ENGG 6.5 0 YES
2173 SOFTWARE ENGG 8.2 0 YES
2132 MECHANICAL ENGG 7.46 0 YES
2171 IS ANALYST & CONSULTANTs 10.6 0 NO
1114 OTHER FINANCIAL OFFICERS 5.75 0 NO
2131 CIVIL ENGG 4.6 1 YES
2133 ELECTRICAL ENGG 8 0 YES

BTW there is one guy who receive pre screening today as per the sheet and he is a Civil Engineer. I wonder how come you received a pre screening in just 10 days of application receipt?
