Thank you! Do you know if applying for OCI is an option while in India on an evisa?

Got an evisa approved for my son and it expires January 2025. I know that extensions on evisa is not allowed but if there is a situation where we need to extend our stay in India, how do we go about it? Can I apply for a different visa while in India?
