Why is CEC Express Entry Permanent Residency Portal asking for my Non-accompanying Canadian common law partner's information?

Did you declare you had a Canadian common law partner from the beginning? If so some of these questions should not have been prompted to be asked.

Has anyone been through a similar situation after receiving a 44(1) report? URGENT ‼️

Based on my recollection of the past few 44(1) cases processing seems to be taking around a year if not longer.

A spouse visa doesn’t exist. Do you mean a visitor visa or spousal sponsorship.? Why do you want to get married again in Canada? To the same person?

Is eTA while Renouncing PR in progress possible?

PR doesn’t expire do you mean PR card? If so yes that could be a big problem. As a PR you aren’t entitled to an ETA. You either need to renounce your PR like your spouse or apply for a PRTD.

H&C Humanitarian Ground with/or Without Failed refugee claim

Which is exactly why the program is not functional. We’ll wait and see how many hot AIP in 2026 but I think it will be much lower given how big the backlog already is.

H&C Humanitarian Ground with/or Without Failed refugee claim

Not sure I would consider this reform. As you correctly point out given the backlog IRCC seems to be depending on people being removed or given up on H&C versus actually reforming a program. Denying applications and then overwhelming the courts seems to be another strategy.

    Very different scenario.

Why is CEC Express Entry Permanent Residency Portal asking for my Non-accompanying Canadian common law partner's information?

Too many people were declaring their spouse as non-accompanying while they were accompanying. This allows IRCC to determine if actually non-accompanying.

Has anyone been through a similar situation after receiving a 44(1) report? URGENT ‼️

The outcome of you 44(1) has to be resolved before determining whether you may get another 1 year card or a 5 year card. Processing is around a year so you should hear somewhat soon. I would not leave Canada until you get a response regarding the 44(1).

PR Residency Obligation: COPR June 2024, PR Card Jan 2025

We see this time and time again on this forum. People have a plan that allows them zero flexibility and then life happens and they have to delay their travel to Canada or have to leave for longer than their planned vacation time. Always leave a significant buffer. Anecdotally it appears there...

Québec question for Common Law Sponsorship

As it says it depends on why they received the social assistance. It certainly is not helpful.

    Queer from an islamic country

Would personally worry about documenting your persecution and trying to find a way to enter Canada. Without entering Canada you can’t claim asylum. Asylum if you have no funds is not easy. Many are living in homeless shelters or even on the street due to capacity or just safety. The money the...

IRPA 28(2)(a)(ii) Calculation: Soft Landing Only + Co-habitation with Citizen Spouse Prior to Divorce

You had landed in Canada as well as the person you sponsored before getting COPR which could have been the reason more information wasn’t said. That said your spouse may end not being able to count RO for PR having never actually settled in Canada. At least the Canadian citizen is the one who...

Haven't met RO and want to apply for spousal sponsorship

Haven't met RO and want to apply for spousal sponsorship

There is always a risk that any interaction with IRCC will trigger review of your RO. We have also seen cases where IRCC doesn’t process family sponsorship until the sponsor meets their RO or they get approved for PR card renewal based on H&C factors.

    2026 PR application timeline

As already noted there is no need to call in or rush to get your temporary number. Everyone will receive one and doesn’t benefit you in any way. It is just a temporary number for administrative purposes until you receive AOR. It is a waiting game but there is still a large number of applicants...

    2026 PR application timeline

We have to wait and see what happens but believe the 2026 applicants will see longer processing times than 2024/25 because 1 time policy will have met its quota.
