Hi All,

Here is my question:

As per current system of citizenship .... you need to calculate physical presence in calculator .... it gives you ...Your eligibility period is 2013-04-27 to 2018-04-27

I moved to Canada after PR (FSWP) in December 2014. So before landing in Canada I was in India.
I was in India more that 183 days before landing (because eligibility period starts from year 2013 and before landing I was in my home country, India)
From 2013-04-27 to 2014-12-23 was in India (I landed on 23rd December 2014). So as per physical presence calculator and during my eligibility period I was in home country for more than 183 days (was before landing).

I did not went out of Canada for more than 183 days in between after landing.

Do I need to get PCC from Indian embassy?
How process was before October 2017? was it same as eligibility period 5 years from the day you apply?
Thanks,
RC

You only need to count the days in India for the last 4 years, not 5 years. 27 April 2014 to 24 December 2014 is still more than 183 days.
So, yes, that PCC is needed and it has nothing to do with your landing date.

Before October 2017, the eligibility period was 6 years instead of 5, and you needed 1460 days (with no pre-PR credit) instead of 1095 days.

I did not calculated anything .... as soon as you put dates in physical presence calculator here:
https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/rescalc/startBasicCalc.do

It will give you eligibility period which is been calculated 5 years from day you apply for citizenship (for example if you put today's date for application 27th April 2018; then your eligibility will be 27th April 2013 to 27th April 2018) and before landing one will be in home country for more that 180 days ( In my case before landing on 23rd December 2014; I was in India 27th April 2013 to 23rd December 2014). So that confused me. Thanks

The eligibility period and the PCC requirements are completely separate.
The PCC requirements asks for your presence in a country for 183 days in the last 4 years, regardless of the duration of the eligibility period.
This 4 years timeframe has not changed with the new october 2017 rules btw.

To add to response from Seym, you have to provide PCC from India if you apply today. If you apply after first week of July 2018 then you might not have 180 days from July of 2014 to 23rd Dec 2014. In that case you will not need PCC. Also this doesn't mean that IRCC will never ask for PCC if you have stayed outside Canada less than 180 days in last 4 years, they might still ask if they need. To avoid all confusion it is best idea to get PCC in your case.
