Ok, thank you. Here are the options that i had tried so far. Ironically, the pattern @Brenna had tried was missed in my attempts. I will try that tonight and share the outcome. I hope our efforts here should address any questions on unable to link application to mycic account in the future for folks who refer to this thread.

Ok, finally it worked. It was as i stated in my last comment. Thank you again to the kind hearted folks who helped to get to the bottom of this. Also, one additional note for folks who are trying to link an application with US passports.

In the passport birth place appears as CALIFORNIA, U.S.A. In COPR it's listed as CALIFORN. Both of them wouldn't work. You will have to just type the state name (if there are spaces include them as such) and it should work fine. Good luck to all linking your photo retake applications.

2nd photo request, photo submitted 20 Nov

Card approved 23rd January 2018

07th Dec 17 - Resent photos received at Sydney, NS
29th Jan 18 - Approved online (hoping to get the card later this week or next week)

Hey everyone, I'm not CEC but am dealing with an annoying PR card photo issue. My husband and I received emails telling us to send in new photos in 30 days late last week but we're currently in the US with our move to Canada scheduled for March 1. Has anyone had success getting an extension? Just one or two extra weeks would take care of it. We don't trust that any photo we get here will work and would rather just get them retaken in Canada. We can't call CIC from here. I've considered a CSE but those seem to be slow and I may attempt emailing the NYC visa office, which appears to do some PR-related things but figured I'd check here too.

Worst-case scenario, we'll eat the cost of new photos and postage and get them rejected again but I'm hoping to just wait until we're in Toronto and get it done right.

I got Approved online this morning.

Photos were sent on 4th December and reached CIC On 12th December.
PR card approved on 29th January.

Do you get an email as well from CIC when the application is approved? Reason I ask this is that I cannot check the status of my application online.

I got an email 24 hours after the online approval. Email stated my application has been updated. You should be able to link your application online and track it. Please refer to the last 3-4 pages of this thread. We worked as a team to resolve the issue of not able to link the application online. FYI - I was unable to access it online till past Friday.

You are welcome. Unless there are legal reasons that I’m unaware of, you should still be able to create an account for yourself and link any applications in progress. I didn’t use a lawyer but folks who did might know better.

I did Landing on 5th December, 2017 and got resend photo request on 24 January,2018 and I sent right way ,CIC received on 26 January,2018.

Why they are taking so many more days to process these cases.
I have to travel, can i do something ?

Nothing too much you can do. I've cancelled my trip (and I know it's unfair). There're a couple of things you may try out:
1. Contact the Canadian embassy of the country you plan to visit, asking for the processing time of a travel document.
2. Contact your local MP, express your situation and ask if he/she can help on speeding up the process.

I tired both, I failed both. >.> plus call IRCC doesn't add on any help but just screw my day up since morning
