Hi all my Indian driving license issued in 2015. I booked knowledge test with ICBC, but they didn't let me take the knowledge test and told me they are sending my driver's license to the head office for validation. My license is a genuine one. Are anyone in the same boat? Or has anyone went through this awful experience before?

So wait for verification as your DL is over 10 years old. Nothing to worry about if genuine.

Did you also went through the same experience? Did it resolve?
Everyone who applies to exchange a drivers license from a country that doesn't have a reciprocal agreement with Canada or the province you live in goes through this process. It's not a unique situation.

This is for Ontario but guaranteed BC is the same

https://landline.media/ontario-bill-cracks-down-on-fraudulent-drivers-licenses/#:~:text=During a second reading of,Ontario's roads,” Sarkaria said.

“We’re cracking down on bad actors who use fraudulent documents to obtain an Ontario driver’s licence,” Sarkaria said. “We are closing this loophole to ensure that all drivers earn their license the right way… This will continue to help ensure our roads remain some of the safest in North America.”

Everyone says their documents are genuine

Until they aren’t

If everything is legit, the process is about 30 days to confirm validity of your driving history. Depends on how long it take the authorities in India to supply the information. From "personal" experience, about 3 weeks. The information can be found here (Google is something those "High Texh workers" from India would probably have leveraged to figure this out.....or would have asked at the counter while they were there......just saying):

"Or has anyone went through this awful experience before?"

As far as it being an awful experience (your words), it probably has something to do with preventing further instances like this:

And to protect the general population from becoming casualties of a system that results in:

Inconvenience and lack of understanding and preparation on your part doesn't make something "awful".
