There are many people who have applied for H&C because they have established a life in Canada, haven’t been able to sponsor their parents, etc. That is not going to be sufficient for H&C especially these days. There also needs to be another element that makes it an exceptional case.

Sadly they do reflect reality. Also gross incompetence by IRCC. I have been pointing out huge problems in IRCC’s longterm planning for years. The math never mathed and action should have been taken a long time ago. Marc Miller apparently tried but was prevented from making some of the reforms he wanted to do. Was already too late at that point but would have better than the bigger mess we have now.

While I have no doubt that the government is planning mass cancellation of some programs (and no, lawsuits won't change the outcome), none of that answers the question of "what about the people.Already here"? This is a huge issue as these people have already show a "devotion" to remaining in Canada. 50 years without status is a small price to pay compared to 50 years with no future in most cases. They've already proved they can survive without legal work, garner education and health care and as time progresses, establishment becomes a bigger factor in determination of status. They aren't just going to pack up and leave and there isn't the manpower to remove them (or the money). I'm almost (but not quite) to the point of closing almost all programs, focusing on criminality and (enhanced) medical for those in the system and grant them status (with revised residency obligations for all) and calling it a day. Restrict immigration for the next 10 years and the result should balance out the system. It buys you time to revise the immigration system to something that works, places clear restrictions on who get to come and remain and on what basis.....no H&C, no SV to H&C, targeted skills, etc.
Agree in principle but backlog is way too large to limit immigration for that long (could take 20 years) and would essentially shut down economic immigration to Canada which would be detrimental longterm as well. Also stops the ability for Canada to be selective when it comes to economic immigration (for age, ed, language ability, NOC, etc.) and try to meet certain labour needs. It’s not in the best interest of Canada. Also predict that immigration target plan announcement will include more quota allocation to provinces/regions and certain categories (while also limiting NOCs within the category) versus general categories. There is a huge skill and location mismatch between people already in Canada with no pathway to PR and skills needed. Also if you paused immigration you would end up with an increasingly older demographic when Canada needs younger immigrants. Do think that certain categories within H&C may be dealt with differently. For example I would expect Ukrainians to get an extension of their WPs, SPs, etc. They should still work towards economic immigration programs if possible and learn French. This is a huge mess and sadly this will hurt many people and Canada as well due to cost and reputation. Would highly suggest people actually meet with reputable immigration lawyers or consultants that are willing to give them honest feedback about their options going forward. There may be options for people if they leave and learn French, go back to school, get more work experience, etc. For some there may be no realistic options for remaining in Canada and overstaying or being removed may close other doors.
I agree with most of your views honestly, but when you hammer on learning french, when most people in the (H&C) demographic scale are between 40's to 50's in not 60's. some of us learnt english for the longest part of our living years and still couldn't hit a perfect band 9. How do you think learning French at this time and age for those category to be successful? Imagine a scenario where you are invited to spend 200k on a business as a 40 year old through C11 international Mobility program, After successfully running a business for a year and employing Canadians and PRs bringing significant benefit to the economy (which is the main aim of the program) You submiited your PR profile with 200 points after 2years of running the business and all of a sudden the points are gone just because of a policy change in Immigration. Who told you that in the nearest future, the allocation for French wont be filled and then the government changes the policy to be another pressured needs. See when we are talking here, let it be out of empathy!!!!!!!!! I dont think ANYONE will be told or asked to Invest in ANY Country without one benefit or the other. If it was a clear- "No pathway to PR", i repeat, Most people will not venture into this journey. With that been said, that is my personal story and the purpose of filing for H&C wasn't because of the business establishment in the first place, instead BIOC.
French is not an option for everyone but has been an option for the past few years although it does take time and energy and is not easy. I have routinely criticized the government’s immigration policies and poor planning for almost a decade at this point. It will likely take 5-10 years to try and fix the mess created. People and Canada will be hurt by the previous government’s poor planning and bad policies. If you are claiming H&C based on BIOC depending on the age of your child they may have a better pathway on their own. They should be learning French if they don’t know it already, thinking about their future field of study, work experience, etc.
If governent operated on data and common sense we wouldn’t be in this mess so tough to predict what IRCC will do but it is certainly on the table. As the article attached recommended people need to be prepared for the possibility of major changes to H&C. Many should consider meeting with an immigration professional about their potential options if H&C is no longer possible.

Such broad cancellations have happened before. In 2012, the government wiped out immigration applications for hundreds of thousands of skilled workers, and in 2014 it cancelled backlogs in investor and entrepreneur programs.
Hopes they won't cancel it,but if they does, I am already ready for whatever ,my born children in canada have already benefited, thanks to the Canada health care system,they may not have survived at birth without the system in place and currently undergoing therapy for 3 years ,I am already gearing up for other PR pathways.

As I recently read on LinkedIn, IRCC should start by properly training its employees, since many lawyers have expressed concerns about their lack of professionalism something we’re all suffering from.
Hello everyone, i understand there is a lot of uncertainty but i was hoping for some thoughts and dialogue around individuals who applied about 2 years ago, and received their AIP. I understand processing times have increased, but what do you predict to:
1. How accurate are those times, for instance on 8th October the website showed it will be 24 months, but as of 9th October with updates it shows 49 months remaining
2. What is the future like for one’s with AIP specifically and have background check partially completed like info sharing and security screening. Pending medical (no request yet) and pending criminality (not started yet)
3. How does one apply for workpermit? Can anyone apply for this if they have AIP? Are there age restrictions?
Everyone has anxiety and questions and are normal but thought id check with all your experts and see your opinions/feedback
