Good day, I have just received an email from IRCC requesting that i should fill out a form IMM5409:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX> Official Declaration of Common-Law Union: You must submit a completed Official Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM 5409) form, bearing the original signatures. You can obtain this form at the following address:https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/migration/ircc/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm5409e.pdf.This must be received at this office by: 2025/06/22

I will try to do it, but i am living overseas and my partner in Canada - am sort of lost based on the requirement that both party needs to sign this form Infront of a notary public, as anyone here gotten this form???
Hello, I'm in the same situation, my partner and I are living in different countries. I'm not sure how we can sign the IMM 5409 in front of the notary. Can I ask how you guys did it?

Yeah, both of you need to sign IMM5409 in front of a notary/commissioner. IRCC wants the original signatures on the same form (not scans). Easiest way: one of you signs and notarizes, mails the form to the other, they do the same, then send it in.

If the deadline feels tight, just send IRCC a webform asking for a bit more time and explain you’re in different countries.

Did you apply online or paper?

Any update ?

You appear to have only recently applied in 2025. Except for some rare exceptions it is taking close to 3 years to get PR for protected people and refugees /and given the quota there is a good chance processing may get longer not faster. The majority of time is spent with no movement of your file. There could be no change for over a year for example.

I was just wondering if everything is going normally so far, since I have been waiting for almost 20 months, and the criminality is still in progress, knowing that for most people it shows as passed right after the biometrics.

Aor March 22 2024
Biometrics March 22 2024

I have not heard anything since then
Also when I login to check my application… it doesn’t say my Eligibility is done tho.

Does this look normal ?
