Maybe some of you will encounter the same situation. My parents landed around 2 years ago, they spent their first trip here 6 months then back home and came back for another 6 months. Is it worth it to maintain their PR status here? My parents are now in their 70s, they enjoyed their time here but really don't see the long-term future here. I am debating whether or not to review their PR card after the first 5 years or just forgo it.
I am not familiar with your personal circumstances. However, I suppose PR renewal is just $50 per person (and add photograph costs to that).
There is a potential scenario that one of them is left alone in this world, in which case the one left may want to be with the children. I see several folks waiting desperately to get selected in the lottery and many more waiting for the interest pool to re-open. In short if I were in your shoes I would try my best to convince them to get it renewed.
All the best to you and your family!

was this for Sponsorship or visa
From his previous post, looks like it's for PR.

my grandparents landed last week. All you need is passport and COPR letter. They will also need ArriveCan and proof of COVID vaccination. They also carried the passport request letter with them but was not necessary. I would also write down your address so they can give to the officer if they ask.

Hello,
Does anyone know the current processing times to get PR card within Canada? My mother got a passport request letter so I submitted a webform that she is in Canada but she is going back to India for two months in 8-10 days.
Should we complete the virtual landing here in Canada and once the PR card is delivered, I can send it to my mother in India and she can travel back or it's easier to submit passport in India only and the passport will be returned within 2 months?
I heard PR card can take 6 months to arrive within Canada.
Thank you,
Vinesh Parekh.

Hello, unfortunately, I didn't notice my invitation until the last hour of the deadline for this year (sponsorship parents) so I filled out the forms as much as I could but some of them were left incomplete. I also paid the fees. Is there a chance that my application doesn't get rejected and just returns due to an incomplete application so I get a chance to complete it and resubmit my application? If anyone knows please assist it's a very stressful situation

On a side note on the invitation letter, it was mentioned 11:59 EST but when I submitted my application before the deadline it stated UTC which was 5 hours ahead and it was showing the next calendar day. Does anyone know what's the reason?

Hi Amir,

I don't think incomplete form should be a basis for rejection. They will keep coming back to you asking for more information until the time they're able to make a decision on your application. You could lose time and the application could get delayed in this process. During my PR application i forgot to include an important document, they returned the entire bundle along with the payment draft by mail and i had to resend everything by mail to them. This was during a time when you could only make applications on paper (online did not exist), hence i don't think an incomplete application could lead to rejection.

The time online shows UTC (perhaps their servers are hosted in UTC timezone), as long as you submitted before 11;59 EST on the last day you're good.

Good luck to you.

If I have to guess and your timeline is similar to @$immyO, then maybe next year or 2026.

Hey All, we received PPR this morning.

Application submitted June 19 2019.
Application process began Nov 2019.
1st medical August 2021
2nd medical request Aug 2022.
3rd medical request Feb 2024
Decision Made on ECAS 11 March 2024
Pre Arrival Service Letter 11 March 2024
PPR 15 March 2024
Took almost 5 years for the PR as my father was a police officer in India.
I lost my dad a few months ago, so had to notify IRCC to process only my mother's application.
Took 5 years for the PR, hopefully no one has to go through this stress and agonizing pain that we had to go through!
Good luck everyone
