Hi Folks:
My FIL recently passed away and we want to get my MIL to US. She is in India currently. Since US is not renewing any visitors visa currently, we are exploring options to apply for her Canadian visitors visa as my SIL is in CA on PR. SIL and her family immigrated to Canada back in Sep 2021 and co-brother recently found a FTE white collar job and will be starting next week. Given this background, what do you think are the chances of MIL getting her CA visa approved? What docs are needed to be submitted? What are the wait times to receive a decision from the CA consulate in India?
Would appreciate your honest experiences and replies in this matter!

Getting a TRV approved for Canada will be based on your MIL's profile. She will want to show ties to her home country such as property ownership and assets (this is to demonstrate that she has no plans on remaining in Canada long term). She will also want to prove she has the funds to pay for her trip to Canada. Also, if she has previous travel to countries requiring visas (such as the US, UK, Canada, etc.) this will work in her favour. If she has no travel history or travel history only to visa free countries / visa on arrival countries, this will reduce her chances of approval. Basically Canada wants to see that she is only coming temporarily and has no plans on living in Canada. Your SIL can provide an invitation letter.
