My mother in law submitted for a visitor visa and was rejected. The reason being that there wasn’t sufficient evidence that she would return, specifically:
1. not sufficient assets and ties back home
- She owns property in her home country and her youngest daughter lives with her. She has steady income. Her siblings are all in their home country. We more than exceed the minimum financial criteria to support her during her stay
2. not enough family ties outside Canada
- Of her 5 children, only 1 lives in Canada. The rest are in US and Mexico. Her immediate family are all in Mexico
3. Her reasons for visiting aren’t in line with reasons to visit temporarily.
- She stated she wanted to visit for her son and grandson’s birthdays. It’s been two years since we’ve seen her, etc.
The stay was meant to be 3-4 weeks. She’s visited twice before, prior to when a visa was needed. Never overstayed, no issues at all. She does not have a US tourist visa. Home country is Mexico. What gives??
My husband and I are both Canadian citizens. I appreciate any insight here! We are so confused and disappointed.
