Hi,

I've another problem because of this PR card that is not coming !!!! So now my employer is asking me a police record check. Great, when I go to the Ottawa Police Service, they're asking for :

two (2) pieces of valid identification. 2 valid pieces of identification are mandatory to complete your online Records Check. Both pieces of identification must include your name and your date of birth; one must have a photo and one must reflect your current Ottawa address as listed on your online Records Check request.
If your driver’s licence does not have your current Ottawa address you may bring a third piece of documentation that includes your name and your current Ottawa address such as a recent (2 months or less): utility or telecommunications bill, bank or credit card statement, original signed lease agreement/ housing agreement from a recognized secondary/post-secondary learning institution, paystub, insurance policy or any form of registered mail from an independent third party. Hand written mail/mail with no formal letterhead/branding will not be accepted.

If you do not have a driver’s license you are still required to bring (2) valid pieces of identification. Both must reflect your name and date of birth; one must have a photo and you may bring a third piece of documentation that includes your name and your current Ottawa address such as a recent (2 months or less): utility or telecommunications bill, bank or credit card statement, original signed lease agreement/ housing agreement from a recognized secondary/post-secondary learning institution, paystub, insurance policy or any form of registered mail from an independent third party. .

Great, now how I am supposed to get that, I've my French passport, my French ID (obviously they're not going to accept it) and my PR confirmation! Ok I've a proof of residency, but one more ID is missing!
Can't get the Ontario photo card on time, it's taking 4 weeks, and the opportunity that I've is literally a once-in-a-life opportunity!

And no one can blame me for being late, because I just got my PR and I applied for a great job and now they're asking me to bring this police record check! It's crazy how this bureaucracy is making our life so miserable. Do they think a little bit that newcomers don't have right away their PR card ?!

The way I read the above is similar to what Ontario will require for you Ontario photo card. Your french passport, copr and supporting docs with your address should do it (like your lease etc). That does not seem so hard.

So what's the issue? Are you stuck on thinking copr is not identification? For these purposes I think it is. (but I could be wrong)

I'm reading from this: "If you do not have a driver’s license you are still required to bring (2) valid pieces of identification. It's this part that is confusing me :

"and you may bring a third piece of documentation that includes your name and your current Ottawa address such as a recent (2 months or less):""

Bill, lease, insurance policy, anything official looking that is addressed to you by name with address.

We used lease for children, and my spouse and I were named insured on our house contents insurance. Other types of bills should work but these were the ones available to us immediately on arrival.

You've been physically in Canada for a while you should have something. Probably your bank stuff would work
