I sponsored my wife and now i got a email saying forward your passport and 2 photo to VFS for futher processing.

My question is : what does it mean

Means they're going to stick a visa in there and then you're done.

I have checked status online : it say decision is taken and application is in process.

But does not say application is approved.

means you are done, congrats. it will not say approved until they issue the COPR

Forget the online tool - read the letter that you were sent. I'm pretty sure it said more than 'send your passport and photos.'
